Build your own macros for what you use most. I’ve found that’s helped me way more than using those alt hotkeys. Overall, from what I’ve seen those alt hotkeys can slow you down more than using a mouse because if you hit the wrong key, your screwed and have to back out. I have a lot of my staff that are really all for the alt keys but honestly, I get things done faster than them using my mouse or my own macros. Just be cognizant of what’s truly faster and what isn’t
I used a post it next to my monitor, start small (cut paste copy duplicate replicate) and tackle 1 or 2 new ones a day. Over time you’ll have 10x post its, then none because you know it all
The alt button. On a slow day use the alt key and follow along with the prompts
Touch pad
Practice. It’s pure memorization.
I second this! I don’t use my mouse but it wasn’t an overnight thing. Challenge yourself to go 15 minutes without, then figure out the shortcuts (or write macros) for whatever you needed to use your mouse for in that 15-minute window. Increase that window by 15-minute increments until you’re eventually keyboard-only
Ya it depends on what you do the most. If I’m doing something often I’ll see if there’s a hotkey or something just by looking in excel or doing a google search. If I find something I like that I won’t just remember I’ll write the keystrokes in a sticky note on the desktop and just delete it when I have it down
Every time you learn a new shortcut, sticky note it till you remember and then ditch it. Rinse and repeat and shortcuts will come with time and use
Ditch the mouse right away and force yourself to use shortcuts. It will be annoying at first but you’ll learn quicker. Also anything you really can’t figure out the shortcut for just use your touchpad until you do
