What are the salary ranges at the other big 4, 6 years in (entering M3) in assurance in NYC?
Anyone care to share good starting salary and their general experience as S1 at EY in Indianapolis in tax department? Considering making the jump from small firms to the big 4 for the first time.
Recommendations of a good CPA for doing a single person’s taxes in CA? Looking to spend no more than a few hundred dollars for piece of mind. Not super complex but do have some side income from a small business I just closed and some crypto stuff. I am a mid-level consultant at a big 4 firm. Thank you!
Did the math. After accounting for non-billable travel and 80hr work weeks I'm making $13.25/hr. This whole $15.00 minimum wage argument never made it up the pipeline to big 4 leadership
I'm so glad you're taking this step! We really need to address cultural issues within Big 4 firms. What freedoms did you gain by launching your own firm; what were your limitations?
I am seeing a lot of people make a transition from B4 to FAANG, and interestingly MDs at B4 are coming at L7/E7 levels... so it means B4 MDs make less than L7/E7. For some reason I always thought B4 MDs earn close to a Million dollars.. but looks like I am wrong. I always thought MDs are like CEO!! What am I missing?
What are exit ops for a consultant in internal audit/assurance aligned with business process integrity? I’m breaking away a bit from the IT side because I feel like that gets to specialized in IT audit, but not to familiar with how business process integrity projects can lead into industry. (Context: big 4 advisory)
Torn between current position and a job at another big 4. Is it worth considering a counter offer?
Big 4, Accenture, etc. - are they allowing negative covid tests to go into the office as a substitute to proof of vaccination? Or requiring a negative test in addition to proof of vaccination?
How big of a raise can I expect if switching from big 4 to regional firm after 2 years? (Midwest market)
Me in 2015: The Big 4 are great, they provide opportunities for young people Me in 2020: THE BIG 4 IS AN OLIGOPOLY AND A PYRAMID SCHEME WHICH SURVIVES BY EXTRACTING SURPLUS VALUE FROM THE LABOR OF OVERWORKED, UNDERPAID COLLEGE GRADS. IT ONLY STAYS ALIVE BY DONATING TO CORRUPT POLITICIANS AND BY BURNING OUT ITS EMPLOYEES UNDER THE FALSE ILLUSION THAT ONE DAY WE MIGHT BECOME PARTNERS. HARDWORKING CPA's FROM ALL FOUR FIRMS MUST UNITE AND DEMAND FAIRER COMPENSATION FOR OUR LABOR My Team: 😳😳😳
How soon is too soon to request extended time off? I’ve recently transitioned to a b4 almost 2 months ago. I’m looking to add an extra week of PTO after 4th July to give me 2 weeks for an international trip. Is 2 months too early to request this much time. Should I wait another month or so or just bite the bullet and ask? Ps meant to post this to another group but accidentally landed here. Thanks
Does anyone else feel like working at a big 4 is robbing them of their 20s? I feel like all I do is work and don’t have time to date, hang out with friends and enjoy all the fun of being in your 20s
How does a pwc associate 3 pay compare to a staff2 or new senior at another b4? Trying to understand how that shakes out if new hires generally start at the same salary PwC Couldn’t find anything on this in the bowl, appreciate the insights!
Potentially looking to make the switch from Audit to FDD at another B4 in LA. Currently an S1 early promo with almost 2 years of experience making $88K. What should I expect as far as comp goes and what do you think I could negotiate since the demand is so high?
Attempting to lateral between Big 4's to switch practice lines. Not sure how to explain why I don't just stay at my current firm and work with the group that does the type of work I'd like to do - truth is I briefly worked with them and loved the work but couldn't stand working with the team members at all. Is a sufficiently explained 'not a cultural fit' adequate here? Will they even care? I also doubt my practice line would approve the transfer since we're understaffed.
Can we apply for a job at one of the client of the firm while working at Big 4? How to approach this situation? What are the consequences if we apply without informing the firm?
How are your ELs and their parents handling this crisis? I wish I could give them more support.
What’s your best first day activity for high school math classes, that isn’t covering all the policies and procedures?
PwC just upgraded Notes. How is it that the new version is more shit than the old one. #dienotesdie
Great that US tennis federation lets someone sing nazi era anthem before the match against Germany
wishing everyone happy holidays and positive thoughts for 2021. appreciate everyone in this group and all of the helpful discussions. cheers!
When did it hit you that working in the Big 4 is a dirty political game? That everyone smiles in your face but they would all put a knife in your back at any given moment if expedient for them?
It's the little things I miss: filling up my car with gas, going grocery shopping, using my dishwasher. What do you miss most when you're on the road?
Any intel on career progression or exit opps a sr analyst role in merchandising strategy at Groupon offers? In terms of brand/quality of work? Laid off and interviewing there next week.
I'm a pretty left leaning, open-minded young guy who was raised in the north east and currently lives in NYC. As I evaluate political options, I'm terrified in finding that I'm strongly considering
Looking for honest opinion about realistic schools I should aim for. Here’s mine and I am hoping to aim for Fall 2022 or 2023: - 6 yoe client services/account marketing at ad agency (moved twice, got promoted at both companies) - F28 yoe Asian American (citizen) - 3.0 ug gpa from Berkeley - GMAT aiming 720-750 (based on practice test) - EC circulated on rock band and college tv station but not much (would appreciate any tip on this too) - hoping to advance into brand/product marketing
Looking for some car advice. I have a 08 Nissan Pathfinder. KBB Trade in: ~2700 KBB Private sell: ~4900. No payment on that car. I want a wrangler so badly, I know they’re not practical but they make me happy to drive and I’m at a point in life where I’m living for myself and doing what I can to make myself as happy as possible. Would it be stupid to try and sell my pathfinder and buy a wrangler? I know I should probably drive my pathfinder into the ground and revisit when it’s no longer running

If you're going to carry a backpack instead of a briefcase, at least make sure it doesn't look like you stole it right out of an 8th grade classroom. Smh.
How difficult is to make senior from staff if your senior manager gives you a rating of 3 as a part of the year end feedback?
TFW you’re on a proposal and suggest a project you worked crazy hard on as a reference, then fancy partner says “that project isn’t applicable experience here.”
I wonder how this crisis will affect childhood development. Socialization over zoom is just not how humans are made
