Huron has a wide range of work across higher ed consulting (and other industries). We do have a service line in our Higher ed practice focused on enterprise systems for HRIS/ERP work (likely what EY1 has heard of above), but also have a service line for strategy&operations that covers more management consulting-style human capital/org work in addition to other operations. Also have specific focuses on student lifecycle and research admin. Feel free to DM if you’d want to chat - I’m a Manager in our EDU team

Have you looked at Witt Kiefer? Last time I checked Huron, it was mostly HRIS type of consulting roles and less Human Capital. But it could have just been the timing.

like

Also - only 2-3 roles available at WK. Maybe they’re on a hiring freeze?

Your YOE would dictate your role for Huron since HE institutions are notorious at title inflation. If you have experience with HRIS, you'd probably be fine at M in the systems group. If you have about 10+ YOE, you would be able to push for M in the strategy & ops group.

I’m sitting on 10.5 YOE in HR. I wonder if they would allow me to come in as a manager or push me down to SA to start?

It would just depend on the work that you've done. Consulting is very different, but if you've led a decent amount of projects and can speak to those, then you'll have a good shot at M. 6-8 YOE is the sweet spot for the role before M, less than 6 and more than 8 become very experience dependent.

Any advice for trying to transition to attorney role after passing bar? Working at a firm in a non-attorney role and doesn’t seem like the firm has a position for me, despite my positive review and consistently positive feedback from associates and partners alike. However, when the idea that I’d be leaving came up, the managing partner said they’d hope I would go to them first. Thoughts?

Which title would you use on your CV to better position yourself for client side comms roles? I’m at EY as a manager (external ranking)/ assistant director (internal ranking) with 11 years of total experience handling brand, PR, media & content. I’m interested in finding a new role such as a comms manager or senior comms manager at a company that pays better, but don’t necessarily want the responsibility of a director or head comms yet. Any thoughts on which rank makes me a stronger candidate?

What are some newish when it comes to negotiating salary? I feel like my go-to has always been dependent on the cost of living of whatever city the office is based in, or moving costs, etc. But now that everything is remote I'm not sure how else to navigate my main negotiating points, especially if the role is a promotion.

Apparently more than a few of my firm's associates moved to other states during COVID and are now quitting because we are coming back to the office. The wierd thing is that my office is quickly replacing those associates with other associates that moved here (a large secondary market) during COVID and refuse to go back to their (mostly NYC-based) firms. Is this churn happening at other firms too?

Curious to know if anyone who’s moved from EM/PL/AP MBB role is happy? Moved to an S&O role at Meta and I’m struggling to see much benefit other than better WLB/less pressure. S&O in tech feels second-class citizen (lower influence), work isn’t as meaningful, slower and less clear career growth, slower comp trajectory. Feels like the only worthwhile move is to Product but curious to hear if G is better.

I'm planning to have a serious discussion about compensation with my boss during EOY reviews. No raises since joining 3 years ago & am trying to get a realistic idea of what to ask for. Context: Class of 2016 at boutique business lit firm in HCOL SoCal; 86k salary; 1500 hours; no 401k; no remote. I handle my own caseload & supervise associates. Firm does not give annual raises. Quality of work isn't an issue. I like my firm/boss & would prefer not to leave if possible. Appreciate any insight!
