We moved from downtown Chicago to here. After doing a lot of research we decided to purchase a home in Issaquah Highlands. The reasons are better bang of bucks, easy access to freeway, nice community. I personally do not care about school districts and planning to send kid to private school when time comes. So far I have heard public schools are pretty good in this area as well. You can DM me for details.
Issiquah has fantastic schools and Snoqualmies are coming up fast as well!
Are you wanting to go public or private schools? That really makes a big difference. Bellevue would be your big buck city for public schools, but $1m for 1,500 sqft is a bit of a turn off.
Moved to Maple Leaf (north of seattle, near north gate mall) schools here are mediocre but we have a couple years before our first is in first grade. If the schools improve, great we save some money. If not then private school it is. We just went through the search a year ago so have some general info on a number of neighborhoods we looked at. Happy to discuss if you want to shoot me a DM.
We were in a similar place. We just purchased in north bothell area. The best school districts are on the east side, but homes are also a lot pricier. Because of the huge influx of tech workers and high income we’re anticipating pretty much every public school district within 30min of seattle and Bellevue to drastically improve in the next few years.
I’m probably the only one around here who doesn’t live in king county. I chose to live near Edgewood. The schools out here are pretty good and your $$ go further. You might sacrifice that city life a bit, but your kids will appreciate a nice yard and safe community. Plus I’m 15 min from Bellarmine Prep which is one of the better private schools.
I gotta house in rainier beach. More bang for your buck. Awful public schools
Any school district on the east side is great. Bellevue, issaquah, lake Washington, and anything in Redmond or Kirkland will have great public schools. Plenty of public schools feed directly into the ivys
Bainbridge Island is nice if you don't have to commute every day. Great schools, community.
After living in Seattle for 21 years we bought a house in the Issaquah Highlands. Great schools and we love the community.
