Hi Amazonians. Can you share the work culture in Retail tech team or in Amazon in general. I've received an SDE1 offer. I have other offers from Microsoft and Goldman Sachs as well. I am really confused between Amazon and Microsoft. All the people I've talked to have said to take the Microsoft offer. Please share your thoughts. Thanks.

I asked TCS for a salary renegotiation, they agreed and they sent the new salary breakup, But they are not sending the revised offer letter, Whenever I ask them they are saying it's in the clearance process you'll receive shortly.
But my date of joining is on Monday, HR is telling me to join & they'll send the updated offer letter within 7 days of my joining, can we trust these words, Has anyone faced a similar situation?Tata Consultancy

If you want to do this in FAAS you should join the TAAG sub-group. Individuals in this group pick 2-3 clusters to develop deep technical knowledge in.
Happy to connect if you’d like a referral.
No, I’m in general FAAS. Specialization I’ve seen are SEC reporting, derivatives, and debt instruments. Not sure of all of them.
I specialize in rev rec (among other areas) since I’ve been with the firm in CMAAS through the 606 implementation days. You can definitely build a speciality in CMAAS and that is part of the job of when growing and being promoted (i.e., you start to specialize in topical areas, industries, solution types, etc). However, being a specialist in one topic generally means you won’t be a partner. Something to consider based on your post OP. Happy to refer.
Sorry. I missed that you worked for PwC.
I’ve been with CMAAS since college (never been in audit).
I would be very surprised if either practice accommodates this.
Subject Expert
You’ll become an expert in cmaas but it won’t be in only rev rec. there’s just not enough work for that to be your only focus but our goal is to create experts. It could be part of your personal brand along with a few other things that increase as you get more senior.
FAAS comp is terrible though so probably wouldn’t be worth it there
100% taag within faas. I know several folks that specialize in a few focus areas.
Im in TAAG specializing in derivatives/financial instruments accounting as well as stock compensation and EPS. I know few folks who deeply specialize in Rev Rec, lease, SEC reporting, Income statement, etc. Agree with PwC that FAAS doesnt pay as well at this point compared to CMAAS, but if you want to specialize certain topics within technical accounting, TAAG is an amazing choice.
