Looking to start my career in a FA role. I’ve been in banking for several years and have been licensed for more than two. Since becoming licensed, my role was to find assets and then refer to FA for them to close the deal. Boa/ML has made me an offer for a financial solution advisor. Without any context seems fair, but I’d like to get y’all’s opinion as professionals in the industry. 70K Base+comp based on production (aquisitions+retention). Any input would be greatly appreciated. TÍA

What does the commission and bonus structure look like?

like

I’ve requested those details since they’re not shared on the job post/ interview. I’ve made it clear I need to understand the tiered system before accepting an offer

Seems fair, I am a FSA at BofA you get to sell some investment products, including brokerage account and managed products, if you hit your goals your comp could be around 30-60k per year depends size of your banking center.

Would you mind providing a little details on the goal /comp structure? Here or dm works for me, thanks!

I’m at Marcum Wealth, we’re looking for a junior advisor for our NYC office, not sure where you are located.

Thanks for the heads up, I’m in CA. Maybe in the future haha
How’s the pay structure there.

For starting out your career as an FA I’d say the FSA position at Merrill is a great place given the structure and compensation.

Thanks for the input. It sounds like a great way to get my foot in the door while having the base security.

Advise on handling rates negotiations with BIPOC and non-male creators? I always want to accept first bid and get uncomfortable when my bosses push to undercut rates (especially now when money is tight), because there is a whole history of BIPOC and non-male people getting paid less. I’ve tried to push back but struggle to articulate this to them. (For the record, I’m POC female and my bosses are white males, and race/gender convos are already very difficult with them.)

This annual appraisal I have got a good % of appraisal increment on my salary but I was not promoted to a senior developer (although I have been mentoring a junior dev in my team and been part of building the project by implementing new technologies and tweaks) and my total YoE is 3.5+ years. What could be the reasons? What should I do now?

Thanks in advance!!

Recently joined the firm as a project delivery specialist. During recruiting, the team harped on how great my background was and how much a good fit I would be for the firm/project...

Well, I was on an onboarding call and they were talking about staffing and projects. The presenter said to reach out to them if you don’t think your project is a good fit. In his words “you were hired into the firm, not a specific project. We see you here long term... With the exception of PDM model” 😅

I’ve had radio silence from a small investment bank for about a week now. I’ve completed several rounds of interviews, but last Thursday the firm reposted the job I’ve been interviewing for. On Friday the headhunter said that they’re not sourcing new candidates and it’s probably just LinkedIn automatically refreshing the listing. She said they had a busy week last week but will make a final decision this week - is the delay and radio silence a bad sign or is this typical for experienced hiring?

Hi all. I am trying to determine if I am being compensated fairly. I am a tax manager (about to start my second year as manager) and have been with EY since staff 1. I was promoted to manager in June 2020 (during covid) and received a 7.5% raise. The class above me has mentioned they received much higher raises during their promotion years. My base salary is now approx. 97K. Any insights would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Hello 🐠- first time home buyer and closing is in next 45 days. Have a decent Credit score (757) and Worried with fluctuating bond yields/ interest rates . Any suggestions on how to research for better lenders with less interest rates. Searching online gives too many confusing results. Few friends referred some (3-4) lenders who provided similar rates to me. I’m now confused if I need to keep shopping with a hope for better rates or to stop and lock with better one among these lenders. TIA
