Looking to switch to SFDC. Preparing for the baseline cert exam. How difficult is to prepare and pass without being an avid SFDC platform user. Seems like lot of memorization with some logic.Thoughts?

Admin is all memorization so I wouldn’t worry. Create a free dev org, get comfortable in Salesforce, and go from there. Exams are useless without experience

like

I'm pretty sure the entire exam is on Quizlet, basic admin is pretty simple so do some basic studying and you should be all set.

like

It depends if you just want a cert or would actually like to learn somethung

like

Why get certified if you don’t actually understand the material? When people do this, it hurts the credibility of everyone who has a cert by devaluing the cert...

like

I disagree with this statement. If you have the Salesforce admin in Accenture world I would expect you to be able to play certain roles that quizlet or focus on force doesn’t prepare you for.. but it is a stepping stone. Understanding the content and how to apply it is far more practical than the actual cert that will give you a certain credibility that you will not be able to live up to. Just my two cents.

like

Focus on force study guide ($19) along w trailheads are a good way to pass and learn the material

like

You need at least 40 hours prep time (10 per week) if familiar with Salesforce, double that if not

Now I've had a manager change in last month.

I've less than 1 month remaining in my contract... I am really worried, he keeps delaying it.
Will I be converted into FT?

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice with regards to my next career step. Currently in audit and I have opportunities to go for a Valuations role or an FDD role (both big 4). What are the pros and cons of each? (hours and learning opps, not concerned about salary) Not looking to work long term in both and would likely want to transition into an FP&A role in the future. Hoping to jump directly but require modelling experience.

On a new team, internal move. Have about 10 YOE but looks like this will be the first year I end nowhere near annual goal. A few things outside of my control as I'm coming into the territory and things falling through. Role is heavy on renewals/farming but also some hunting. Because the farming has been so bad as I settle into month 4, will have a huge climb. The number of reps/meetings to get there is not attainable. Do I grind it past year 1? I hate that I will come nowhere close to goal...

Hey all, I’ve recently joined EY consulting from another Big 4 and have noticed there’s no discipline (at least in my team) around codes and charging time. People either charge a standard 7 hrs or some will charge time spent on internal activities to their client code.

I was told that “the last person to charge their actual hours worked was promptly booted off the project”.
Just wondering:
1) Is this a general cultural point accross all Consulting teams? Will challengin this get me in trouble?
