Yes, my last job. I did all the prep, Director reviewed, VP “reviewed” final version of material filings. If you don’t mind prep work and working on your own, I’d go for it if the company is a good fit. I gained a lot of experience and was free to create my own processes.

I worked for a midsized Corp with relatively good leadership and awesome coworkers. I miss my job every day, but I moved for my husband’s job and had to quit. Much less pressure than PA and I was free to work at my own pace as long as everything got done with ample review time.

If I were you, I want to ask around if this company has a good compliance history (signs are experienced tax team, long term tax advisor relationship etc). One of my clients is such an individual contributor Tax Manager. However, the company has a very messy tax compliance history. Since his on boarding a couple of months ago, all his job is to discover and remediate past compliance issues (and there are so many). We are also their new tax advisor. Lots of new opportunities for us, but a miserable life for him.

Have been pinged for a possible role as Director of Operations at a promising looking startup with a 50%% pay increase & equity.
