Not an illustrator, but I have my 3D / artistic content on the same portfolio site as my corporate/branding/marketing design work. Separate "projects" or links, though - the employers looking at my site for a design job tend to look at the design work, and everyone else tends to look at my artistic side projects, but I think showing the best work in both categories shows competency, variety, and expertise that might go unnoticed otherwise.
I love seeing that a designer has talent beyond design. This will definitely help for projects where we need extra skills. Include it for sure but just separate it in a different tab as the person above mentioned.
The hiring manager may not look but if they pass your work on to a Creative to weigh in they will definitely care about this sort of thing.
I put it in a different tab. I’d only recommend you make a separate portfolio altogether if you’re trying to market those entirely separately — I’ve even heard of illustrators having different personas entirely for their different illustration styles. Unless that’s the situation I’d keep it on the same site in a different section.
Just put it in a sectioned area of your portfolio.
