I guess East Harlem is big enough that it depends on the area? I’m currently out of state so I don’t know what parts of East Harlem are bad

Might be tough to trek from East Harlem to Midtown, though it depends where exactly. I’d personally try for a different area because the price point, while good, doesn’t seem to justify the distance, amenities, and potentially the neighborhood

Yeah NY is one of those cities where each block can be different and you won’t know what you want until you’re here (ie, some buildings are next to tall buildings and don’t get sun even if they’re south facing, but it’s hard to tell from photos). So so your research on average price points / amenities of each neighborhood, but be prepared to try and adjust your mindset when you get here! I’d recommend subletting or hoteling for a week while you look.
