Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.

There's no gradual downgrading when you lose your status. It goes down to whatever status requirements you met for the prior year. If you stayed 50 nights you get gold. If you stayed 10 nights you get silver, if you stayed 0 nights you get nothing!
No soft landing, as it's called. It's a cold world out there. Purely based on your nights. Unless you have lifetime status. On a case by case basis Marriott has been known to do things like bump people up, but unlikely. Get the Marriott credit card to maintain silver status. Or united 1k to get Marriott gold. Or your Starwood can match across.
No it depends on what you hit last year.
I was platinum one year (2015) and downgraded to gold the next after having spent only three nights at a Marriott property. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm confused because I just got a pamphlet from Marriott stating that I've achieved gold status but only stayed 25 nights last year.
If you stayed at SPG properties they likely just bumped you up to gold. I was shy a couple of nights for Platinum and I got a letter in the mail that they gave it to me anyway, however, I stayed about 20 nights at an SPG property during the year.
I had 46 nights at Marriott and 5 at SPG, I got the same pamphlet about 2017 Gold Status. I'm waiting until February 18th and see what my account says. I assume it means I have Gold until next year.
