Loving this context from Ron Klain! There honestly needs to be an independent team/body whose sole role is fact checking all politicians on social networks.

My dad tried this argument with me and when I pointed out the lack of travel, it then became because Biden shut down the XL pipeline and when I debunked that, it became because we stopped drilling on federal lands, there will always be a reason, goalposts moving, etc. with these people.

I always feel bad for people who have this terrible of a memory. Literally forgetting why gas was so cheap a year ago. How is someone qualified to be a US representative when they can’t even remember what happened last year?

like

Make no mistake about it, he doesn’t “forget.” This is an intentionally-crafted distortion. Climate-change deniers used to do the same thing. They would counter any argument about warming trends by arbitrarily cherry-picking two comparison points that, without any other context, would appear to support their position. They would pick the warmest summer day 17 years ago and compare it to a cooler summer day last year, and then say, look, over the last 17 years, there has been no warming at all! They know exactly what they’re doing.

SC, one important historical reason for an independent press is to fact check the government. They did it well with Watergate, Iran Contra, the Iraq War justification, The Plame Affair, Russian interference in the 2016 election, Trump’s escapades in Ukraine, the Big Lie, and the 1/6 events at the Capitol, all despite significant R obstruction and obfuscation. So yeah, we do have a lie detector. And it’s really important to the Republic.

Have any fishes from this bowl ever moved from Senior Consultant to an analyst position at an investment bank/asset manager? Keen to know whether it ended up feeling like a step down/starting over? Only asking as a lot of recruiters are approaching me for ODD analyst roles and I’m not sure whether I should play hardball for an associate/AVP type role. Thanks!

Applied for an SM position at pwc and interviewers mentioned that it is for an SM position as well. But the offer came out as M. Recruiter said it is just a title and doesn’t have any implications but more I look, it does look like an downgrade. Is this common? I am currently an SM and it is in tech consulting area.

Working with an (external) headhunter for a role, and just found out they want me to proceed to the second round of interviews. I had told the headhunter after the first round that I was interested in moving forward (although I did express some concerns I had) but after thinking about it, I’ve decided I’m not interested in the role. Does it look bad to go back on my word and drop out of the process now?

Does anybody do a “work uniform” in the office? I’m new in an in-house role at a company that has dress for your day (primarily jeans), and I’m thinking about doing that when we go back (1-2 days a week). I need to buy new clothes post-covid anyways. I’m thinking some casual, but quality, plain black dresses that I can wear a sweater, jacket, blazer (when necessary), shirt, etc. over. Could dress up or down with shoes. Thoughts?

3 weeks ago I applied to a CM role with KPMG and last Thursday I received an email to fill out the KPMG Online Employment Application as I move forward to the interviewing process and contact my recruiter with any questions. However, no recruiters have reached out to me yet. What should I do? (I applied on my own and am not in the referral program. Also this was my first time receiving an email like this even though I had applied a couple times before)

My coworker was abruptly fired. He runs all of our Asia markets. I supported him and have now been asked to “step up” and take over his markets (quadrupling my workload).
