M here. I’ve done a lot therapy and reflection and realized I grew up believing in traditional gender roles. Although I logically believe in equality, I find myself desiring a traditional “wife stays at home and tends to the house” life. I’m ashamed of it, especially since my SO is a strong, intelligent, highly independent woman who likes to work, and I wouldn’t want to change anything about her.

My wife left her job when we had kids to take care of the home. Her choice and something she always wanted. There are women out there that want that type of life. I don’t think it’s wrong as long as you aren’t forcing them into it.

like

Personally, I see nothing wrong with wanting certain things. But there's a huge difference between thinking "I want this type of person" and "you should be this type of person."

like

Absolutely a good point of clarification.

I want to be a traditional wife and I want a traditional husband. It's nothing to be ashamed of

like

I don’t want that but I support your choices.

I'm a F and I would love if my husband was happy just cooking, cleaning and caring for kids (we don't have any yet). I would prefer to be the one working and have my partner do the domestic stuff. To each their own, every relationship is a partnership.

like

To clarify one bit, I do not have feelings like I want things to return to the 1950s, no equality, any of that bull shit. More just thinking about the home front specifically and how we assign “roles” in a relationship.

like

Good for you for doing the self work to figure this out!

We need to stop feeling bad about ourselves for wanting something that is considered “traditional”. As long as you are not forcing anyone into doing something they don’t want to do...then it’s nobody else’s business. If you’re a woman who wants to be a full time worker...then do that. If you want to stay at home and take care of the kids, then all the more power to you. I blame this sort of extreme feminism that makes women feel bad about wanting to stay home

Nothing wrong with traditional roles if everyone’s happy. Not for me, but you do you.

Something I’m struggling with as it relates to the rise of the “Karens”. I get it, Karens suck and are very real but why is it that women always have to deal with this kind of stereotype? Men, especially Trumpian white men, are just as bad about their own privilege. Maybe they handle it differently or maybe people are less inclined to record them? I don’t know. But somehow it feels like yet another divide between women. Just wish we could make it less about gender and more about privilege.

For example, sometimes I talk to my peers about my weekend plans, sometimes about how tired I am because of work, I recently had surgery and shared with them details about it.

Hello all, how can we approach the gender pay gap at our respective employers? I know I’ve mentioned it before but it seems to make Culture & Talent, as well as Legal cringe. I don’t expect them to publish salaries, nor do I wish this, I just want to see what steps we can take to make our voices heard. Let’s open the floor up for ideas and suggestions!!

I fucking hate the expectation that "men must provide" or "women must act a certain way". That's damaging to a lot of relationships. I love division of labor and working with each other's strengths and weaknesses without so much emphasis on gender roles. I'm a big supporter of utilitarian relationship that strives for the good of the partnership and each party.

I know this topic does not get talked about much but will eventually impact almost all of us so here goes. I am thinking of retiring (early) and would love recommendations for countries that I can retire to that. Primary factors would be cost if living, safety, warm climate, good health care system, (preferably) close to the US - not a requirement, stable government and laws, diversity in landscape (beach, rivers, mountains). Definitely not super rich so thinking of 5k a month in expenses.
