Made a counteroffer a week ago and it’s been crickets ever since. Unsure whether it’s being run up the chain or whether I’m being ghosted. Companies and recruiters, why are you like this? 🚩

After a week, you should be able to follow up with the recruiter/HR, right? I understand the hesitancy to follow up with the hiring manager you would be reporting to. But, asking for a status update from the recruiter/HR after a week seems appropriate to me.

The recruiter I originally talked to isn’t there anymore, so the offer came from the hiring manager.

It’s really hard to make the jump from law firm to in-house when you don’t have someone on the inside who already knows you to help smooth things over and set expectations on both sides. I think recruiters do the best they can but they’re constrained in what they’re allowed to tell you, and sometimes the team leads who are actually in charge of hiring are to blame.

We got a move-in 6th grader today. At the end of today (busses gone) I found out that this move-in has an IEP from TX. The students is certified is EI. We have to re evaluate- this will be an expedited eval as we have 21 days left.

Honestly, is this year ever going to end? These evals are killing me! 😣

Outside counsel has been prepping company witnesses for a trial in August. It is my subject area so I am supervising outside counsel. I did not, however, choose the counsel. He is doing a really awful job. Co counsel is better, but not great either. Higher ups love the firm… I do not want to micromanage, but I have genuine concerns about outside counsel’s ability to try this case. Trials are rare, and I just don’t think these guys have actually tried many cases. Cont. below…

I am currently at a firm and received an in-house offer. Aside from main items like comp and big ticket benefits like PTO/health insurance/401k, what other items do I need to think about discussing/negotiating? For example, fees to keep bar licensure, professional association fees, CLEs, etc. I feel like there is so much on that end I currently take for granted being covered at my firm. Anything else I should consider?

I’m thinking about hanging in here for another year or two but then starting to look to lateral. Would love to work for this company if a position is available at that time.
