May be a little unethical depending on your way of thinking, but I personally record my interviews on my phone and will listen back if I didn’t get the job. What I’ve found is that it’s hard to judge your performance and the interviewer’s feelings in the moment, but when you listen back you often can catch them trying to nudge you for a piece of info or reacting to an answer differently than you remember. I also like to record a video of myself after the interview explaining my initial impression so that when I get the results I can look back and do a post mortem.

This is awesome

Reach out to them for feedback! See where they thought you fell short or where they wanted more experience. Worst HR could do is ghost you or give a blanketed “the other person was a better fit.” Just be appreciative in the email and hopefully they’ll give you some tips. Sorry you didn’t make it. You can’t expect to not get attached to a place, though, no shame in being pumped to work somewhere! Just a crappy thing that happens to all of us. I try to look at interviews that don’t result in anything as practice. Sometimes I’ll write down questions I remember and practice responses for the next interview to be that much more prepared for the next place I love. Who knows, maybe they’ll reach back out someday! You’ll find another place to be excited about in the meantime.

First, I’d ask the hiring manager for honest feedback. Do not be a sore loser. Don’t say “I’m sorry I wasn’t good enough wah wah wah…” The other thing is, I try and stack as many company interviews together as I can. I like to have at least 3 companies im in the advanced stages with. That way if you maximize your chances of getting at least one offer. Plus, you want to let all three companies that your in demand with potential competitors.

I am interviewing for a new role and often get asked about a few clients/projects that I did not manage or work on in a day to day capacity. I knew in broad strokes what they were working on but wasn’t approving deliverables. So when interviewers ask about these sexy projects we did, I am usually very honest ... (cont)

Hello everyone, I have an upcoming case study with one of the big 4 for a M&A generalist position at manager level. Does anyone have any guidance based on: "Nothing particular to prep, we will share an information memorandum with you and you and you will be given a number of questions. We will ask you to read that for an hour in your own time and then present answers to the questions for 30 minutes to myself and another director. The questions will be a mix of qualitative and quantitative."

He is now resting with angles up in the heaven and I miss him a lot ❤️.

Is there a time when people generally “start” work remotely? Back when I was a summer before the pandemic, I commonly saw people go in between 9-10 am but I didn’t know what the norm is now that we are remote. I see emails at 8 am and I’m not sure if I’m expected to respond then or not. Also if you are on a deal where some of the members are in NY and you’re in the Midwest, are you expected to go by their times and be on when they are on?

Inclusion question. I am not sure what gender pronouns my barber prefers. This person appears to be a male (full beard, deep voice, etc.). I’ve noticed that the Google reviews reference this person as a female and when I called the shop to ask for my barber - the person who picked up also used a female pronoun. Barber has never corrected me when I refer to them as a man… I want to be inclusive and respect their identity. How can do this respectfully?
