Major in Software Engineering and currently in my first year as a .Net developer. I know the work is very different in cyber security but how tough would the transition be?

Not hard at all. I’d continue down this path for a bit and just pick up things related to security as you go. Having a strong dev background will make for a much better security practitioner than most.

Probably not very difficult. I’d recommend getting cyber security “credentials”, like a Sec+ certificate.

To add on, appsec is pretty hot right now and pays well. I'd recommend joining a local OWASP group if there's one where you live.

Hey folks, I’m an international student pursuing a Masters degree from UWaterloo and looking for full time opportunities in finance and consulting for fall 2022.

I have one YOE in Private Equity back in Asia, completed a fellowship at a VC in India, volunteered to help an Angel investor in Atlanta perform due diligence and a bunch of ECs. My course began in fall 2021, by the time I joined, most of the on-cycle recruitment application deadlines were already wrapped up. TIA!

How does hourly contract lawyering work? I’m on a contract through a recruiting firm before the company hires me directly. My pay is hourly but I get time and a half for over time. I’m currently a policy atty for a think tank and did prosecution before that so I’ve never “billed.” I regularly check and respond to emails on my phone in the evening after work. Do I include that on my timesheet??
