Bain & Company What is the likelihood of making SAC in September 2022 if I join as an AC on April 18th at Bain & Company? I am a senior consultant at EY with 3.5 years of experience in Data Analytics. Or is March 2023 more realistic? They told me 6 months for promotion but it seems like the two promotion cycles with my different start dates give me 4 or 9 months of experience, nothing in between. I’ll be joining in the private equity group which will be new for me.

Hi Fishes
A bit off topic but relevant.
Did anyone hear abt TekFog & Persistent Systems Limited ? Did they develop it ? What's going on ? I wanted to apply (location preference) but am worried now if company is into these sort of unethical activities even more so if they don't even know about it.
Does anyone has any insights into it beyond the company blog post claiming they are not involved. Also how is the work culture there, are these sort things even believable for such company ?

No more than 25% of your take home pay, in my humble opinion. Whether that means you have a roommate or move further out, because you’ll be working from home another year...I’d keep expenses as low as possible. We will likely face a recession and you don’t want to stretch yourself so thin that you’re stressed when you see the news. I make slightly more than you, but I’m hovering at 18-19% (MCOL city).
This is good advice. I guess in my mind I was approaching it as - this may be the one year in my consulting life where I’m actually home more than 12 days a month and can fully appreciate a really nice apartment. But definitely makes sense that things could get a lot more unstable financially in the future.
It's really difficult to say without knowing how much you want to budget and have left over after paying for rent.
That said I'm chicago a nice 1 bedroom is anywhere from 1900-2500 depending on the neighborhood, amenities, etc. It's possible to get cheaper places if you're willing to go to more of the outlying areas.
Gotcha - yeah, I think with having some extra savings on the side I’m willing to extend my budget to closer to $2000-$2200 and I think I can do so while still maxing my 401k and having enough that I’m comfortable with outside of that left over, especially if it continues to be unsafe to travel/meet with friends constantly this next year
2k plus in DC for a 1BR in a new building/high-rise. You can find things from 1400-1800 in row houses though. I will say that if you’re sensitive to noise, you will hate a row house. I personally love them, but to each their own.
I just bought a studio in the Logan Circle area. I was adamant about a 1BR but I actually love my place.
You can find 1BRs to buy under 400, but they won’t be the nicest/newest thing on the market. Not a great route on 105k with only 30 or so to responsibly put down.
Ballston is an oddity, JMU students live there and they built a lot of new stuff (including a mall) so it’s really not much cheaper.
If I were you I would look into Navy Yard, 14th st area (NW, Logan Circle Area), AdMo, or even Capitol Hill. People either love or hate Columbia heights... I love it, and it is cheaper.
Happy to chat more about it if you want.
$6,969 / mo.
