Hi all,
I just came to realise Deutsche Bank has a fixed rule of max 30 to 35 % hike on fixed component and remaining 10 to 15% variable i.e. total 50% max hike you can ask for no matter how good, skilled you are.
Is it true?
(I got to know this when an HR called me for a Frontend developer role)
I was just offered a CUNY role. The title is Higher Education Assistant. According to Glassdoor, the average annual pay for that role is $83,418. However, I was offered $62,500. I requested for the minimum annual salary to be 75k. Does anyone have experience navigating the CUNY system and their pay?
Got an offer for Electronic Arts (EA) Manager for North America (Canada) remote for 100k base CAD, 15 percent bonus and around low 40ks RSU (assuming it's USD). How much higher can the base be in Canada for EA for a Manager role? Base seems low even at 110 CAD. It's a corporate role so not anything technical or product related. Most or all the more senior managers are in the USA. Electronic Arts (EA)

What level are you at Op? Unless you get full ride, doesn’t seem like worthy endeavor with your current salary. Two more moves within the world of big 4 and you would actually be ahead of the MBA track salaries at around the same age. Instead I would invest in some meaningful certifications that could help your career. Only meaningful MBA option is the one-year option that some schools offer:

Other than that.. I would say kick ass, get certified and jump maybe 1-2 more ships
I’m 32 and I just made it to 100k. I have friends that are light years smarter than me, have multiple degrees, etc. that make between 50-70k. Anytime I feel myself about to whine I remind myself of that. Yes there are people who make more than me, but there are also many people who could run circles around me that make less.
Most millennial post of the year.
What a snarky post. You’re not underpaid, bro
Only making $98k. Chicago. EY. 4.5 years into consulting. You are not underpaid lol
Almost 11 years in, Manager, making 124k after recent big raise. 2 years in? STFU. Lol I can’t believe people on here sometimes 😂
OP you're not underpaid. Trust me. I'm making 66k NYC 1st year. NO MBA enjoy dat shit and chill out.
Or switch to another B4 and negotiate an MBA salary.
Guys a lot of us are underpaid. Don’t be so quick to judge. Put yourself on the market and see what comes back OP. Only way to know
You’re not
Just heads up, you will learn this later in life, but 25k isn’t that much money if you hate where you are working and the team you are with. So, making 25k less and liking what you do and tour team, just be happy.
Nothing snarky about this...what city?
So I'm in an identical situation (I assume you're a SA) The way I think about it, if you like what you're doing, stay put and you'll be just about at 125 or so after 2 years, without the MBA debt. If you don't like what you're doing, go get a top15 MBA, you'll come out with a base of 125-140 doing something new that your like and some debt(depending on scholarships).
For me, I'm kind of bored with what Im doing now, so I'm headed to business school.
All that said, if money is all you care about in terms of your job (which is totally cool btw, people work for different reasons) the fastest way to make alot is to jump to a SMALL specialist shop that will make you a director and fast track you to partner.
No, I don't mean to be entitled. I just know that given my skills (advanced analytics) I can be paid at least 130k if I leave for industry and possibly other consulting gigs. Problem is, I enjoy my job as such and my group. I also like consulting a lot. Hence dilemma of growth and salary of staying put, doing an mba, or jumping ship.
OP, i decided to apply to mba programs when i was 29. Was making 80k base that year so my opp cost was small. (3yrs in consulting) after mba i joined another consulting firm and immediately started making almost double. For you, the best case scenario would be about 160k base out of a top strategy shop... but second tiers pay a bit less. For example, my kpmg strategy offer was like 135k base. FYI. So depending on the strength of your network now, and how satisfied with your current job you are now, you should decide..... personally i dont think its worth it to you, the mba. Unless you want to switch onto another industry
Reflecting for a moment. Was making $145k at 28. The year was 1999. Considered MBA, but didn’t do it and never looked back.
Underpaid relative to what? If you really are underpaid, you should be able to find a higher bidder out there somewhere.
How much do you think you should be making that you “definitely feel very underpaid”? Not trying to be snarky, trying to understand your perspective more.
Go PT. I’m doing it now at a top 30. Switched firms during program for 30% bump + sign on bonus.
I was only making 80k. An MBA won't help much.
