Making friends with neighbors: I bought an investment property (small old house in established neighborhood) next to a university/ hospital. I will be tearing it down and building a nice student house geared to grad students / nurses. Right now the road to the house had to get dug up to upgrade the water/sewage pipes. Then it’ll be a construction zone for months. I’m sure my neighbors aren’t pleased as my front yard is now just dirt (as opposed to nice grass). Nice gestures to build goodwill??

If that was me, I would appreciate a more detailed plan of the construction. Esp knowing when and for how long the noisy period will last. Any drilling etc

Having happy neighbors should make my life easier down the road. I was thinking of writing a nice letter to each house occupant 2-3 homes next door and across the street. Introducing myself, explaining that at the end the property will increase overall property values in the area, and giving the contact info for my project manager in case they have questions. I live in a nearby city about an hour away, and in a pre covid era would have just gone and knocked on doors to I traduce myself. Now I’m thinking of what to potentially have mailed.

Cocktails.

Gift basket would work. You could also include a letter detailing your plans for the property and give them your contact info

Reach out to them and explain what you are doing and also make sure they have a way to reach out to you to complain . Construction crews are very disrespectful and leave garbage etc

Hi, I’m new here! I am starting a business as a parenting coach. It has been suggested to me to reach out to big companies to see if they offer internal employee benefits or learning and development training. The idea being they have a bigger budget than a single family. I have been a stay at home mom for 15 years and I’m out of the business loop. How do I find the right person in the “big company” to email/cold call? Just tying cold call makes me nauseous.🙃

Cross posting: Is it stressful being an Airbnb host? I have the option to rent out my place for about $3k a month (guaranteed on long term lease) or potentially airbnb it for about $8k a month (assuming 2/3 of a month capacity) not guaranteed. 2nd year associate here (going into my third). Will have about 114k in student loan debt at the turn of the year. I have roughly 60k in my investment account, 45k in 401k and an adequate balance in my emergency fund. I also contribute to my HSA and will cross the threshold for investing that in January. During 0% on student loans i have been using every spare dine to pay that down. My question is should that continue or should I tone that back and start investing more? Cont’d in comments...
