Look into Le Tote - it was awesome for me during pregnancy! For about $100/month I was able to rent pieces so I didn’t end up with a full maternity wardrobe that would only last a few months. I bought some staples for bottoms and used Le Tote mostly for tops and dresses. And they’re customer service is really great too if for some reason you end up with pieces you like/don’t fit.
Second Le Tote! I would get SO SICK of my maternity clothes and had to resist the urge to buy more. I was able to time the totes so I could almost have a new wardrobe reach week (did dresses so it would be a whole outfit).
I bought normal clothing that are loose fitting so i can wear them after pregnancy. Maxi or midi dresses are great examples
Something to consider - you will probably need to wear them for a bit after - unless you are genetically blessed you won’t shrink immediately and you might want to see where you level off before before buying regular clothing (or try to fit in your pre preg clothing). What I am saying is have a few high quality work horse pieces because you will probably need them for a bit post delivery.
One maternity skirt, a couple of maternity dresses, 2 maternity jeans, a couple of tees and tanks. Majority from H&M. Didn’t want to spend a lot of money but still wanted to be comfortable and needed a couple of things for work (onsite until I went on mat leave).
I wore a couple of regular long blouses and tanks throughout pregnancy and even still a year on.
I bought a few dresses and staples from Old Navy and Motherhood. I made sure they were fairly simple and forgiving, and that was enough. I also bought my pregnancy underwear from Amazon - I bought the kind that go under the belly rather than over so that they could work for the whole pregnancy, as well as after when I still had a belly but it was shrinking.
I bought some work shirts from a pea in the pod that double as nursing shirts. Thought it was a worthwhile investment
I just bought some at Walmart. Won't last long but nrw clothes will cost less than renting so gives you more variety and still cheap. I bought several jeans dress pants, leggings tops and workout clothes and still spent under 300
Bought a few garbage bags worth from a garage sale for $40. Lots of good basics. Three cheap ASOS dresses, one nice dress and a bunch of long cardigans. Nursing bras were the biggest hit. $300 on clothing and $150 on bras?
Look on Poshmark Mercari and ThredUP. You can find some good gently used items for little $ if you don’t need them for very long. Also Gap has very comfortable stuff too! I found H&M to be lower quality and not very comfortable.
I am loving using rent the runway unlimited during my pregnancy. That’s covering pretty much all I need to wear, but can be pricy at $160 a month (but still worth it for me, as I typically spend $1500 a quarter on clothing). I did buy a few basic maternity-specific items (T-shirts, bras, underwear, work pants—$200 total on these) but for anything else I’m tempted to buy I ask myself if I can wear it now, later in my pregnancy, and after I give birth and only buy if it ticks off all three (for example, some lululemon align leggings—so soft and comfy! and some loose tops from my favorite workwear brand). My sister also gave me some maternity jeans and shorts. I’m mixing this all in with some items that I had pre-pregnancy that are super stretchy/loose
