This is America, if we didn’t keep people buried in debt, how else would billionaires fund their day trips to space?
Simple economics duh.
*sarcasm* It’s quite tragic actually.

U of Wisconsin has more Fortune 500 CEOs than any other college/university in the US.I can’t find the NYT article I remember but did find a listing of which schools have the most Fortune 500 CEOs and some of them are surprising. Definitely shows you don’t have to go Ivy League to be successful.
Make sure you share this perspective with high school age kids in your family and friends. What student loan companies and colleges are doing putting people in generational debt is insane. Breaking the cycle starts with giving the next generation the idea that going into huge debt isn’t the only path to a successful career.

OP, you do live and learn and you will get them paid off. Consolidate if you haven’t already and check out Dave Ramsey’s baby steps. I don’t agree with everything he says but the baby steps will get you to the point of being out of debt.
One thing to look into is there are some companies to who match student loan payments and there are government roles that provide student loan forgiveness. Although I imagine the LEK salary may not make a change worth it. Just offering advice if it’s helpful, best of luck!
Yea I thought about that tbh
Wait 20 years till they wipe out student debt.

How much we talking here? I had 70k from going to a private college. But the way I see it, I would not have landed where I did if I didn’t have that network from school.
I paid it off in 5 years, hardly making monthly payments. Just put my YE bonuses from consulting towards it, and then the last year aggressively paid down 2k a month (made possible by my consulting salary).
Wouldn’t change a thing. I didn’t have family money to pay for college so I did what I could to set myself up for success, and it worked
Essentially in the same boat. I’m probably in year 1 of that comparable 5 year pay down. I plan to take a similar approach. Congrats on paying yours down. Can’t wait to have this monkey off my back
