Q: for FAANG recruiters, do candidates get a reject stamp after failing even at the later stages?
I advanced to the last stage at Facebook (Meta) around a year ago but failed on my last interview, a combination of not being familiar with the process and not having chemistry with the interviewer.
A friend who is a hiring manager recently recommended me and this time without even a HR call I received a straight up thanks but no thanks email.
Does this mean I’ve been permanently black listed?

well, can they support you in making it your job? if yes - win/win. If no - time to look for opportunitites
Do you have any stakeholder friends to ask the boss for you in the meetings for continuity?
If you don't want it anymore read next paragraph and got the experience you wanted. (Btw take credit for all of it in interviews as you did the hardest part.)
Next time, directly ask if you are being asked to lead throughout the project. If not, say although you have appreciated the opportunity to contribute to those that should have been running it and be a team player the project needs continuity of leadership throughout it's life cycle. He has said before it is not your primary job and you are listening. You don't want to overstep boundaries.
If you want it and more, try to have a career meeting. This works is you have a fair relationship. Thank him for these opportunities to get visibility and trusting you to get everything online so the team can hit the ball across the plate. Ask lots of questions about these opportunities and what results he is looking for you to accomplish. Ask lots of questions. You are trying to ask open ended questions to find the plan for you. What else does he want to put you on that is coming? Talk about where you want to go down the road. See if he will advocate for you. If you want to stay on in the next one, ask for it directly.
Ha ☝️my former manager. Micro using me on an every other week basis
So they gave y9u the task and then while you were working on it, said it wasn't your job? did I understand correctly?
Haha sounds like my former boss.
You might need more frequent 1-on-1s with your manager. Maybe 30 minutes every other week so that you guys are aligned
