I promise you no one who heard that will forget it, and the partner is going to have a less cooperative team going forward. "If that's how they treat someone who's been here 17 years then how will they treat someone who's been here for x? Not worth the effort."
I have no doubt I would either be terminated or receive no raise if I treated a senior in that fashion. I would also add I have never seen anything like it in over 30 years. People do get escorted out when they resign if there are unusual circumstances The vast majority are handled in a professional business like manner.
Also-17 years and he is only a mgr?
Considering there are probably more male than female partners it's not that crazy of an assumption. Smh at your liberal ass trying to make something out of nothing
Manager would've been a fool to leave 20k that he earned on the table.
Wow. Partner sounds really immature and like he took it personally. I'm sure he has done his share of firings in the past. It's just business. Right? 🙄
I'm not saying I disagree with the move. The partner could have handled things better for sure though. Say whatever you want but don't do it in front of the entire office.
Only a male ptr would be so insensitive and rude
Nice of him not to leave in the middle of tax season...
You have to do what is best for you at the end of the day
Manager worked his ass of all those years and deserves every penny and a new opportunity
Bonus was somewhere in the neighborhood of $20k.
Funny how some of you assume the partner is a "he" - smh.
I'm going to do coasting from now on , after I get promoted to SM...😈
I assume it's a he because OP said "partner dressed him down" 🙄🙄
Why?
Manager deserves his bonus then... can't understand why partner got angry, either promote manager to get him to stay or get someone else to do the manager's job. Yelling at the manager doesn't solve his problem.
If he just coasted, they'd coach him out
if he was a lousy performer i doubt the partner would get mad at all that he is leaving, should be happy
Hope it was worth it
