Unpopular opinion, looking at the other comments here:
Many people are taking an advantage of WFH. I see many in my team being away for long periods of time. I ping them and they reply back after 20-30 mins. That too from mobile. Bcoz it is often obvious when one types on (Teams) mobile vs desktop. They also join meetings via mobile with a lot of bg noise. Totally unprofessional.
Everyone is billed for 8 hrs, so why not be available from 9-5? With an exception of lunch + breaks 1 hr. Such people are cool with late night/ after hour meetings. And they are cool to be online or reachable at any time. But they are away during core working hours. These are same people who used to play TT and go on chai-sutta breaks during WFO days. And then stayed behind till 8-9 pm just to show how âhardworkingâ they are.
This kind of âflexibilityâ is something I donât personally like. 1-2 days a week is fine. Special cases are fine, if someone has an emergency or personal work, a baby, etc. But this is a regular norm i see in my team. Not that the work doesnât get finished. We have low work load, which requires 2-3 hrs max. But then donât ping me after hours, or expect me to be available after hours, if you canât overlap during work hours. Do whatever you want but be available for meetings and respond to pings on time, like a professional. I see that Indian work culture (service based companies experience) is all about jugaad with very little professionalism or honesty towards work.
I am not a manager btw. A developer. I also show away sometimes if i am watching a video or something. But i am always available for all meetings and respond immediately (1-2 min delay) to pings. From desktop. And i am offline and unreachable after hours with 0 exceptions.
Wait, how do you know if someone is typing from phone or laptop teams?

Tell that chutiya manager that even if you work on your system and teams screen is not open it will show away.
Yep I had told him that only . If we are working without opening teams sometimes it changes status

Just tried the status message thing and changed to never, but still it became away after leaving for few mins
Teams has this feature where person can get status change notification of others

Download move mouse. It will keep your desktop active
Ask ur manager any tasks done by me whose eta was not met
