Mckinsey folks who are involved with recruiting: is it common to request a chat with someone from your school’s recruiting team prior to application submission? The recruiter told me that she’d be happy to pass my resume along to a member, but after sending her my resume and following up today, she said that they are all busy and she’s very protective of their time (when I brought up whether or not it would be possible to email one of them myself). I just really want to know who’s on my school’s

I have a bit of an ethics question. I’ve accepted a job and start in a couple of weeks, but then my dream job at my dream company came available. Would you entertain interviewing with the dream job or would you hold off until you’ve been at the other company for 6mos-yr? I’m not one to burn bridges, but the other company/title/leveling is my ultimate longtime goal, whereas the accepted position is at a startup with growth opportunity (title is ok, pay/growth are stellar). Thoughts?

I will ask questions 2-3 times during the conversation before I come to the conclusion that nothing the other person says is going to clarify things for me. Then I look it up on my own later or ask someone else.
Google or just ask them to break it down in your level of comprehension.
Some people who have skills and knowledge can't teach. Those who do can't teach and those who can't do teach.
Let him know your struggling with his style of teaching/communication. Odds are you're not the first or only to observe that about this person.
I suppose it depends on how relevant it is to you and your job. If it's something that doesn't necessarily impact you, I'd probably just nod and call it a day. If it's important that you understand whatever it is he/she is trying to explain, I'd either try Googling it or asking another colleague. Sometimes it's just a matter of how someone explains things and a different person might be able to make it more clear and easy to understand by simply saying it a different way.
1. Ask for pictures on a whiteboard/paper
2. Ask for an ELI5
3. Ask to add concrete examples
4. Google it yourself
these are the most helpful suggestions imo - I find asking for examples really helps. They often realize how unclear their explanation was to start with, so it forces the other person to organize their thoughts too (which is definitely a skill and not one everyone has!)
