Manufacturing HR Peeps, What is your Workforce Turnover looking like right now? Mine is an ugly 37%

Wow, that's high. Am I missing something, because my rate's not nearly so high.

When I spent time in property management HR one of our KPIs was to have companywide turnover at 36% or less. Not sure what manufacturing’s norms are, but turnover that high is unfortunately pretty common in certain industries. Maybe you can purchase an industry workforce/human capital benchmark survey to validate where your turnover rate stands in relation to the industry average?

Oof, that is rough. Not surprised though, seems like people are leaving their jobs across a number of industries.

In industries like property management it was happening at the property-level well before any of this “great resignation” stuff hit.

smart

Mine is about 20% at the moment, higher than we would like, but not terrible.

Why are they leaving? 😅

My perspective is it’s a training issue on the floor. But I’m new to manufacturing. Im used to 8% to 15% in my previous position. I was hiring 4x the amount of people then.

Hi all,

Hoping someone could advice on it. I recently accepted a job offer and it has been discussed and confirmed via email/phone that my starting salary is £26k and will raise to £28k after 6 months probationary period. Now, I have been sent the contract but there’s no specific statement about the £28k salary after probation.

It might be a stupid question but I am worried about raising this as an issue. Is this normal? Or is it better to ask for a revised contact with the specifics?

Which certification we would you recommend for career advancement to be an HR manager? PHR or SHRM? Any other certification I should consider? Pros and cons would be greatly appreciated!

I have a dilemma. I lead a recruiting team in a consulting group and we are having trouble meeting our numbers. We are under pressure to deliver and we have been working together to make our numbers grow. Today I find out that one of the recruiters went to HR to say I have been pressuring them too much. I have a lead on my team who I discussed this with who doesn’t think there has been pressure at all. Suggestions ? I don’t know who the person is.

SHRM vs HRCI? I haven’t heard as much on HRCI HR Management certification. Do people ever get both? Does help to even have the certification from HRCI?

I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance.
I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members.
Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?

Those of you Director/ VP level HR folks, what exactly do you do in terms of “strategic” HR? I earned my Director wings 1 year ago. When I started in HR I always wondered about the meetings my Director or VP would be in. Like what were these big cool things they’d be working on. Now I’m a Director with only a generalist under me so I get bogged down with the tactical stuff but I’m wondering am I missing out on what a Director level person should be doing.
