Many efforts to get into big law have been to no avail mainly because I only have LLM from Emory Law and my other law degrees are foreign. I have decided to start my own law firm and I aim to make it as international as possible, thus making my supposed academic disadvantage my strength. I am considering corporate, M&A, entertainment and sports as areas of practice. Please advise accordingly. Thank you!

What do you need advise on?

Building clientele and how best a law firm can gain international recognition.

How are you going to get clients in those areas?

Marketing, focus on building up one area at a time, good luck!

Looking for some advice on how to branch off into a job in tech. I’m a Mechanical engineer interested in working in a big tech company. Majority of my department has been informed we will need to look for other positions internally due to our jobs being outsourced. The timeframe for the full transition of all work to the vendors is approximately 6 months. This is the second time in 14 months I have had to look for another position due to outsourcing of work. Since I can only work remotely for my company due to location, is it best to resign or to hold out in hopes for a transition to another department?

Needing some guidance. Trying to shift my career, I have the degrees to do so but it seems for even entry level roles recruiters always tell me I do a good job but they went with someone with more experience. That’s been the norm I’ve been hearing when asking for feedback it’s always them going with the candidate who has a couple years in relation to the entry level position. Any tips or companies you’d recommend that would take a chance and teach those to strive in the role?

I have over 20 YOE and have worked in NJ all of my career. I was just approached about a great position in NY. The position is offering 10- 40K plus ample overtime.
I’m concerned about the transition; not used to commuting or being in the office everyday for that matter. I’m currently working a very flexible hybrid schedule. My thoughts: 10K more not worth considering; 20K more I will listen; 40K more I will jump. Thoughts? Has anyone ever made this type of transition in their 40s?

I'm currently working as an Associate Consultant at EY Tech Consulting, and considering applying to Gartner's India CoE team by end of the year. I'm due for a promotion to Consultant by end of September, so should I wait until that happens to make my move or should I apply right away? Also, what would be the ideal entry point for me, Associate Consultant or Consultant?

I'd really appreciate hearing from someone about the work culture, pay estimates and get an idea before applying.

I’m currently interviewing for a hybrid Jr UX Designer role for a fragrance company. The compensation is between 70-80k. I searched the market rate in NYC and the salaries are between 103-120k. I assume this is based on the company, industry, and experience. I have a graphic design background with 10 years experience and have a springboard certification for UX. I don’t want to get low balled as I have been in the past. Is it unreasonable to ask for what’s market value when it’s a team of 5?

I get 25% of collected originations on top of my base. I've busted my hump to get a $300K+ book on my own hustle. In the past, PCs finding the firm thru general marketing were firm clients if retained bc the managing attorney did all cold consults. Boss just announced any available attorney can do cold consults & get the origination. Is this normal? AITA for being pissy that even the baby attorneys w/no history generating business now get an easy path? I should just take the W & shut up, right?
