[query] Is it a good idea to say a firm No due to medical reasons to a new night shift project I'm hired in?Accenture
I recently got a night shift project (2 days ago) that requires me to work from 10:30pm till 7:30am
I'm not comfortable with these timings and I'm thinking to ask my manager to put me on Bench (Due to medical reasons that involve mental health)
Is it a nice idea to say a firm No to a new project I'm hardlocked into, due to night shifts?

As a tenured teacher, we tenured teachers tend to not include nontenured teacher in this type of actions. I will advise you not to involve yourself in this behavior and allow the veteran teachers to do this. Good luck!
I was told as a probationary teacher to stay in the background and let the tenured teachers do what they need to do.
Wait like a strike or basically just a ditch day? Cause honestly that's pretty b.s to all take off together and leave all the other teachers/administration to scramble that day.
As well as, do that to the subs.
I think you should say just that. You are worried about losing your job. Don’t take a sick day with everyone else. Administration does look at sick days and finding subs may be very difficult
why would they plan something like that? it's a rediculous idea. if your all caught out together you are all potentially toast
Oh my word, please Physics.. stay. Pay no mind to those who pick apart your contribution. I hope you have not gone away.
Yes, avoid any part in that!
You don't have to do what they do. They should understand.
Even as a tenured teacher, I would be hesitant to follow along with this plan. Why are they planning on doing this at all? Never feel badly about doing what is right for you even if others give you crap about it. There are bullies everywhere, especially teacher bullies.
I will say... our school district did this and all I did was make sure I went to the doctor that day... I stayed away from the other teachers and stayed home. I did this because the union requested solidarity for our benefit.
What is the reason for the sick out? It is in protest of something or about union issues? I feel like maybe more information would be useful. Because if it’s about union issues, they do affect new probationary teachers as well. You know yourself best and maybe you can explain your hesitancy with a teacher at your site that you trust and maybe they can better address your concerns so that you feel more comfortable doing it, or it makes it easier for you to stick to your gut feeling and not participate. Good luck!!
Yes. Totally agree! In our district... the union reps tell non tenured NOT do join in
Not suggested for non tenure.... but if you are so inclined to participate.... make sure you go to the doctor that day... bring in proof from that doctor that you were there and stay clear away from other teachers! Stay home!!!
You have to worry about YOU and your OWN career. Disregard what other staff and faculty may be planning. If decisions are being made to
Negatively impact the work environment, then these are probably people you do not want to associate yourself with anyway. Stay the course and go to work.
Susan... as I do agree with you in this situation for a non tenured... you do need to be loyal to your union as a collective group. After all... the union is working for all of us!
