Marcus APY is down to 0.60%. Anyone doing any better in a high-yield savings account?

Some are still closer to 1% but by the time you move your money there they might drop to .5%.

I wouldn't open up a new bank account for less than $100 (maybe $200) of value which you aren't going to make chasing a few tenths of a percent unless you have way too much cash even assuming that rate stays. Check bank bonuses (Citi, chase, pnc, etc) that would pay you significantly more to open an account if you jump through a few hoops.

Solid advice. I moved $50k out of high yield to Citi for the $700 bonus for 60 days (another 90 days to avoid fees before account closure or reduced cash account to avoid future fees), and Webull emailed me about the $25,000 deposit for 25 free stocks which is a targeted email worth a minimum of $9 each with a 30 day holding period. All cash will later be pulled back on and moved back into high yield savings. I may sign up again for the Chase checking and savings $600 bonus as well.

Last year I completed 3 bank bonuses (direct deposit related) with minimal savings for $1,150 in cash bonuses and fully avoided fees by splitting my direct deposits. I kept all 3 open.

Marcus lured everyone in then bang. Hopefully when rates are back up they will go back up. I’m sure that’s a lot slower than decreasing rates ;)

I don’t think so. Most are all dropping together as they’re tied in with the fed rate

If you don’t need the money for the next two plus years, buy a safe dividend paying stock. JNJ, KO, PG, etc. get paid 3% return at a lower tax rate.

This is my emergency fund so could have to touch it within next 2 years. Great idea for other cash though!

If you are a T-Mobile wireless user, their checking is offering 4% on the first 3k and 1% on anything after the 3k.

likesmarthelpful

The key to getting the 4% for the first 3k is being a wireless user. I think if you aren’t you just get 1% on everything. I’m using it right now to make a bit of cash for my EF. Oh another thing you don’t have to setup direct deposit and you only need to transfer in like $200 a month to qualify

It’s not just Marcus that this is happening too, same thing with Ally. It’s not like they scammed you it’s tied to the feds interest rates

like

So is it for new investors or even those who invested in CD when the rates were still high ?

.5% for cap one

It’s .65% and they lowered it around 2 weeks ago from .80%. I panicked and just had to check my savings rate lol

Hm bradley? Someone posted about it they have tiered apy’s not sure how it works though

Just moved 80% of my cash out of Marcus and now in some bond ETFs instead. Getting a safe ish 4-5% return with the portion of my portfolio usually dedicated to cash. Obviously still dollar cost averaging the majority of my portfolio in stock ETFs.

Look for bank bonuses instead. Will give you a higher rate of return right now.

I’m using CIT Bank, much better than Marcus for me

I’m using Barclays, .6 over here 😱

Axos Bank is 0.9% as of now. I joined it a few months back at like 1.5% 😭 but it has still stayed above Ally and Marcus which I have been very happy about. I will admit their customer service is really awful and getting all the money transferred in was way more work than I ever wanted to go through but now that's it is all set up it has been awesome

Try AMEX

It’s not all that great either

Capone down to .6%. But I received the $500 bonus though

amex personal savings is 0.8%. still
not great but better

Hi, new to this bowl ☺️ I’m wondering if anyone has suggestions on where to put my money, if not in a regular savings account? I’m so so grateful to have graduated from college over a year ago with no debt and I have minimal living expenses, so I’ve been able to save a lot. A percentage of my paycheck goes towards my company Roth 401K and company stocks, but I feel clueless about how to be smarter with my money and not let it ‘collect dust’ lol.

EFA is another trade betting on the economy strengthening. This ticker is developed markets X-US. It is a difficult trade because the longs are much more variable for moves than the greeks would predict, but they even out over time. This morning is a good example with the ticker up barely, but he long down significantly. It is easy to over react and over trade it.
I got in when the election was pretty well sealed and figured Biden would be much better for global trade and global companies.
