I currently work at a senior level in product management, I have around 4 years of experience in the field. I'm severely underpaid and feel quite undervalued by the company. I've also been supporting my wife who's been doing her Masters for the past 2.5 years, and being in NYC my savings are absolutely minimal. But HR doesn't provide me this hike as from the start my basic pay was low and because of it I still don't get much progress in it

Can a company legally change my position and OTE? I was hired for a specific segment and now just weeks into the role they said they are moving me down a segment due to business needs. The salary is the same but the commission went down. Wether legal or not this is fucking insane.

I’ve been with my current company for 3 years. In this time I have only received one raise and triple the responsibilities. I am currently the fleet/safety manager for a fleet of 8 trucks. Also, I am required to do all secretary work, manage the office, dispatch, keep the books, and manage payroll for 12 employees for 34,000 annually. With the workload I currently have I’m not sure what to approach my boss with as a fair salary for the task i complete daily.

I have an offer from a company where my salary is 30% higher than my current place, and the benefits are great. I'm pretty happy with the overall package , only negative is my 4 weeks vacation will turn into 3. They've already said no to matching my 4 weeks.

I will sign with the company but I wanted some advice on how to negotiate -- if needed at all. Or maybe ideas on what else can be negotiated? They did mention the possibility of stock options later.

Got an interview as a marine superintendent at the port of NY/NJ - their beginning salary isn’t as great as I thought it would be - 60K but they told me after 6 months of employment we get 12K bonuses divided over 12 months. So salary would be $72K. I asked someone who works there and they told me bonuses depends on how the terminal is operating, sometimes its less. Are they being misleading with the salary ? How can I get them to guarantee the bonuses after 6 months of employment ?

Background: I’m in an engineering role where there only two of us for the entire organization, I could theoretically get promoted 4 or 5 times before I “cap out.” I started at the lowest level making ~70k. Getting paid $52/hour as a part-time employee. My supervisor wants to convert me into a contractor. What should my hourly rate be now? No benefits or PTO.

I was recently promoted.. so I think. The company is going through reorg and with that, the minimum salary is being pushed to $52k/yr. I am currently earning $42k/yr and with this promotion, I was offered $55k. I am thankful for the recognition however, seeing as new employees will be hired in at almost the same rate; I’m not sure how to negotiate this. I would already be receiving a 23% increase but with the reorg taking place I would essentially be back a square one.

If I had stayed in the role I was in originally and grown with it, I’d be making maybe $120k, best case. I also wouldn’t have broken 6-figures in under 4 years by waiting.

The biggest lie that companies tell you is you can grow in a firm, both professionally and financially. The only ones that grow are already the people a) getting the promotions, or b) on the sales side.

If neither applies to you, the fastest way to achieve salary growth is to leave.

Any suggestions on how to go about negotiating a salary that I previously verbally accepted? The market rate is much higher than the comp given to me. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.
