Wedding #1 50K spent, made about 80K at that time.
Wedding #2 10K spent, made over 200K at that time.
Spend the least amount you can live with. My current husband was ok with going to the Courthouse - I said no so we did it at the clubhouse in moms neighborhood as a compromise rather than a fancy hotel like #1. Still had an open bar, surf and turf, two cakes, less people but more fun!
Wedding: ~ $70-80k
Engagement party ~ $10k
Rehearsal dinner ~ $10-15k
All gifted by parents from both sides- we probably contributed around $5k; not even putting HHI since it’s basically all gifted- I am an only child and this was my parents dream wedding haha. No shame lol

$0 … my dad insisted on paying

One month and ONLY one month salary.
I’m in the very early stages of planning one right now - our budget is ~$30-45k. HHI is $330k. Aiming for ~100-125 guests. Getting $15k from parents - sharing because I think this is an important factor that a lot of people don’t really talk about.
Yes - they had saved 15k for me and my partner for whatever we wanted to use it for. We bought a condo last year and decided to save the money to use for our wedding.
Getting married this summer. Looking at $100k for over 200 people for a kosher wedding. Luckily parents are paying

$10K, total HH income $350-400K.
$20K (includes dress and suit but not rings or honeymoon) and 800K HHI at the time. We paid for this completely ourselves and I wouldn’t change a thing
$35-40k for 200 guests and made probably about $200k HHI at the time.
If I could do it over, I would invite 80-100 instead and not worry about trying to make it so perfect for my guests. Reality, most guests won’t notice or appreciate it. Plus, I had so many I had to continue to follow-up with to get an answer and several who couldn’t attend due to uncontrollable situations (e.g., their mother died, had a heart attack, daughter had kidney stones, grandmother died).
Invite the people your really close with, provide a comfortable and fun environment with good food and drinks.
Couldn't have said this better
We had multiple people cancel last minute. Luckily our venue let us update our number 10 days before the event and then someone brought a plus one that they didn't rsvp for 🤦♀️
60k, 80ppl, 350k HHI. Income helped but we were 31/34. If doing it again I would’ve gone for a small intimate gathering and cut down on the big production (DJ, arch, etc).
$55K but we also had two weddings (one destination and one at home). I made $85K at the time and my husband made $250K.

We spent a little under $25k for a very small destination wedding with everything included from engagement ring and prenup to honeymoon; we also paid for flights, hotel rooms for guests, and booze for the 3 day getaway for everyone. HHI was ~$250k at the time.

This was in 2019 - it was *very* small (6 people including my husband and me). I would also note I picked a very inexpensive engagement ring.

We spent about $60k. HHI ~$300k
$110K, $1M HHI

This is SUCH a useful post. Thanks, OP!
HHI was approx 350k at the time and we spent 30k for a destination wedding in the Caribbean for 60 people.
$10k and $180k total
Tough bc if you have an invite list of 400+ you’re gonna have to pony up 60k+ minimum, and even more now due to inflation.

Yeah, no, definitely not. We did the math, even including extended family who you don't really see outside or events like funerals, we probably wouldn't even get to 50 people.
$100k. 220 guests. Parents and sibling paid $25k. HHI 400k
When we got married we made about 60k in total. Our wedding was about 8-10k including my dress and photographer, but about half that was gifted to us. Photographer and reception were the biggest costs. Not including rings. No this wasn't the 1980s, it was 2010 and we were young students and in love. 🤣
No dance, a morning weekday (Friday), about 80 people - church, and an amazing brunch buffet at a nice hotel, complete with manned carving stations for ham and smoked salmon, eggs, and waffle stations. No servers except for cake and local ice cream. My friend made the 4-tier cake for us as a gift.
We made our decor and invitations. Friends did the music at the church and the venue later.
This included rehearsal dinner and engagement party as well. Everything as frugal as possible given the size of our families but still stayed classy.
$50K and we made about $300K HHI at the time. 120 people. But this was back in 2019 and I’m sure prices have risen since then.
