Agency recruiter is a lot like sales.

That really depends on what you really want to do or what interests you the most. They are offers from different companies, right?

Offers are from different companies. Currently am contemplating bc the agency & the boss i interviewed for seems nurturing and supportive, also the exposure & learning curve seems intriguing since im still starting out my career (approx 1 YOE). Agency is a big firm w all the tools for learning.
However in-house also looks promising as it give stability & growth to be in house recruiter and this company is growing rapidly.
Thoughts anyone?
In-house is stable but if you’re joining as a coordinator, you might get kept into that role and have to remain scheduling forever (even into your next job) because you haven’t learned actual recruiting yet. So it’s the question of, do you actually want to be a recruiter?
I started off with agency recruitment knowing nothing about the space, I spent 2 years there and learned a ton, then I somehow got an amazing in-house recruiting job at a company that I never would have thought I’d have the chance to be apart of. Looking back on it, im so glad that I made the decisions that I did to get me here.

ive done both roles and my time at an agency wasnt enjoyable. it was highly competitive and very salesy we just tried to close roles as fast as possible for as cheap as possible. the focus was on volume of hires and not on candidate experience at all. i only lasted a few months there bc i hated it despite the training the offered.
i love my current job as a recruiter. my company has a growth plan in place to slowly take on more reqs (1-3 at a time) to transition into a jr recruiter or take on more strategic projects to transition into recruiting operations (i was interested more in the latter for ex im now working on employer branding and inproving candidate experience and previously designed out summer internship program though i still take on an entry level req here and there). id just make sure the coordinator role is more than just scheduling and has a clear development plan in place. but working inhouse lets you connect with candidates, the focus is on finding the best candidates and making connections which is what recruiting should be imo and being integrated into a company and knowing everything going on also makes it a lot easier.
although its worrh mentioning i maybe wouldnt have gotten such a good coordinator role if i hadn’t gotten that agency experience
