In general, more money coming into the space isn't bad. And there are plenty of PE/VC firms that are happy to throw money in, maybe give a little advice, but mostly be hands-off and let a good company grow. However, the ones you hear about more are the ones that try to overly monetize whatever it is they've invested in, and as a result that makes things worse for the patients and providers as you've seen. Plus, a business that might have grown more solely, but organically, may feel the pressure to please their investor and end up being a little unscrupulous in how they do so.
But ultimately there are plenty of firms out there that are decent investors, and are able to capitalize on synergies in their portfolio of companies and provide good advice without becoming a leech on the healthcare system, they just tend to fly under the radar.
Thanks for this input EM :) Any particular firms you know of that you’ve seen operate in the positive way?
