Hi Fishes, I have offers from PwC(risk advisory) and IBM(app development). Thing is that the PwC joining is at Kolkata location but I don't want to go there and stay. There is not much difference between the offers in terms of package(10 & 10.4). Can I ask PwC to provide WFH or change my office location for this? Deloitte EY PwC KPMG

If I were in your shoes, I’d have a sit down with them and discuss roles and responsibilities.
While I’m not opposed to doing work that’s beyond my immediate scope, it always has to come with either a learning angle or to serve as proof that I have the skills to officially have my scope increased and my comp adjusted accordingly.
I’d ask if there’s a path to an official increase in role/comp and try to pin down a timeline, with the understanding that if that’s not in the cards then you won’t have the capacity to keep owning that extra work.
This is vital. Don’t let this climate of job cancel culture fool you, stick it out until it becomes an obvious time for change. Utilize your management and company resources for growth, document your interactions and outreach as a strategy project, and always leave on a high note as blackmail is real. Strategic and positive mindset beats adversity.
Silver lining: You're in a good spot to move. Both roles PM/BA are in high demand still. I would think about which role's tasks you prefer to do and what Industry and apply for those jobs.
I would also suggest you ask several questions about how work is structured in your interviews as pushing you to do dual roles is common in this job market
Get your money! You got a top company, experience AND a cert!?! Shoot for the top of the market
I got hired at IBM during the pandemic and they had me as a new undergrad doing call center work for a project 😂. They honestly just grab people fresh out of college to work you to death in anyway possible, which is why their turnover rate is so high. I would hightail it out of there. Positive the pay isn’t worth it.
I had a VERY similar experience at IBM
I get that's tough, but honestly it's a huge compliment to be singled out for PM work and get that training and experience. One day, you will appreciate it.
What certifications do you have ? If none, try to do a CSM certification or SSGB or BB and get your resume together with your PM experience and start applying elsewhere.
Right on it . Just got my CSM in June and it’s been after 2 years of running the team scrum . I have a degree in IMT so there’s also a mix of formal PM education along with professional experience
Take credit for all you've seen and done. Sounds like you've had exposure to more than you initially signed up for. But yea, all the extra responsibilities without the pay and title isn't it
I worked at IBM watch. It was during that experience that I learned that Jim Crow still existed. It’s a grossly overrated company from an employee experience perspective, especially if you’re a minority.
It’s been two years it’s time for you to move on. Update your LinkedIn profile and get on indeed. Someone is always reaching out to me for PM roles.
Definitely don't ignore the importance of the PMI-PMP certification. It's in high demand on Project Manager job postings and will make a significant difference in your salary demand.
