CFA. It won’t get you a job but it’ll get people’s attention enough to get an interview. Also kind of a pre-req

It’s not a necessity but it shows interest and let’s me know you know your technicals and I don’t have to baby you through a DCF. Don’t be the consultant that can’t give me the impact of duration on bond price given interest rate changes, like the 4 Ex-MBB people I interviewed (while the 19 year old freshman from Wharton was able to do this) If you passed level I, I don’t have to ask you this question. If you didn’t pass level I and got the interview due solely to non-finance related brand names on your resume and nothing else (MBB, FAANG / HSW / etc) I’ll ask you this question + other technical ones But a CFA is never an indicator of outperformance. If you can demonstrate a proven track record, everything else is really moot, who needs a CFA?

My wife and I work at the same company and are at the same level, doing the same role, though different departments. She gets paid 15% less than me. I joined after her and didn't know her salary. We've been living with this for a while, and she's gone back asking for a pay bump but been denied, but she did not mention that she was married to a man who had a different pay rate. Should she go back again and mention that? She was hesistant to bring our personal lives into it, but I thought she should call that out specifically. I'm not sure what I should do on my side.

My department head mentioned to me that there may be a high school teaching position opening in the future and they think I'd be good for it. I'm not sure I'd want to make the change because I've only ever taught middle school, (14 years!), and wonder how big the change in student attitude and behavior would be like? This year though, the kids I have are really draining and it's got me thinking. Would high school students be the same crazy behaviors or would their maturity make a big impact?

Have a call with a recruiter today where I’m 95% sure I will receive an offer. If the TC is less than what I’d like, should I be hesitant & counter on the call itself or ask to take some time to fully look into the comp and then counter over email? Not sure what common practice is.

I worked at a large insurance defense firm for 4 years out of law school. I really enjoyed the work itself, but the hour expectations kept increasing and I was getting burnt out. I decided to try a new type of law and have been at the new firm 3 months. I have way less responsibilities and none of my own cases. I’m worried this was a wrong move/too far of a step backwards. I know I don’t see myself here long term, but I’m not sure how long I need to stay to avoid looking like a job hopper—help!
