MBB experienced hires, how long did it take you to make the switch (from start of networking to final offer)? How long did your interview prep take you?

4 months from initial outreach to offer. Prepped continuously over that timeframe.

Starting off, probably 4 hours or more a day. I did at least one case a day, sketched out frameworks, practiced math, re-read Vincent Cheng materials, etc. once I felt comfortable, sketched out 2-3 frameworks a week (in depth, the way craftingcases.com suggested), and one case a week to stay sharp. For PEI, probably took 1-2 hours a day to identify/write stories, edit, practice live

2 months from kicking off the process from an open house to referral to interview 1-2, to offer

6 months between resume drop and offer. Prep took 3 months but realistically was ready after a month or two

Wow - you all prepped a lot. Was that mainly weekends then? If I only have 3 weeks is this possible? What about 3 weeks of time off?

Where would you recc getting a coach from?

3 months between app and offer with 6 weeks between app and first round notification. I had read CIP and Victor Cheng’s book prior to applying, and then I did LOMS once I got an interview. I did a few cases with another applicant and a bunch of cases from MBA case books with my very patient fiancée. Total prep ~2.5 months, although I didn’t need that much time—I think 3 weeks could suffice if you have the basics internalized and are doing lots of live cases.

like

3 months, but I was straddling MBA recruiting season so there was a pause for that. Realistically your prep isn’t gauged on time as much as number of live cases done. You need to do 20, how long it takes you to get there is highly variable. I spent about 2 weeks prepping.

I think 3 months between resume drop and offer. Didn’t start casing until I got the initial recruiter touchpoint but I was already pretty comfortable with casing from undergrad so it was just brushing up

Coming from a T2 firm (ATK, OW, LEK). How are consultants at these firms perceived when applying for MBB? Is it almost sure to get an interview invitation? I am thinking where are the even better candidate sources except T2?

I was a pre mba experienced hire at MBB and here is my experience on who I met also recruiting with me: - a few people from other consulting firms like deloitte and atk - a lot more of those form industry like me but had unique experiences to share

Gave resume 3-4 weeks before I heard anything, timeline as follows: Recruiter chat - week 1 Interview R1 - week 10 Interview R2 - week 13 So basically had 2.5 months to prep, which was perfect for me as I was getting burnt out towards the end

Is networking still key as an experienced hire? Networking was really helpful when I was applying to consulting as a student, because of the clear recruitment cycle most firms followed. Now that I’m looking to switch to industry, I’m looking at specific roles / depts at specific companies. Companies often seem to want to fill these roles quickly so no time to network, and on networking calls people can’t help as much if you are targeting a specific dept. any thoughts?

She is expecting some quality time every day for a few hours, and I am just unable to do that. Its probably a combination of the job and also how I

Which career path will u choose for yourself and why? Options - 1) CXO of large tech co., like FAANG 2) partner with b4/mbb 3) CXO of a unicorn - like stripe or what Facebook was in 2006/2007, with a huge upside when it goes public 4) start a company of ur own that has a decent shot of becoming successful. All the options will make u rich and yes u only have 4 options.
