I can't stop thinking about work.

Curious why you asked just MBB? I get the impression we have it better than most other firms. I feel like it'd be much easier to stay here ~5 years than it would be at a lot of other firms. There's a lot of flexibility and pampering and interesting work.
I'll probably stay for 3-4 years in total. As long as you set boundaries and have good managers, it's not an impossible life to live. You just have to make working out/sleeping/seeing friends a priority and make sure your managers know it
Whatever I want
I'm reading this fucking post at 12:45 on the way back from airport on a flight I did not get any sleep, to answer emails and join a call in six hours because every fucking person wants to live in a different time zone.
Shoot, I wish I could spend six months on the beach like some of the Big4s that've posted here
Plus i think Big4 beach is probably Maldives or Fiji beach, McKinsey beach is Mogadishu beach...
I had the best beach week. Staffing thought I was on vacation so they didn't send any client dev work my way. And now, I'm off for my week long vacation!
Alternating travel and local has been helpful. I give myself 2 more years though...
Definately set boundaries - just do what works for you and it will probably work for the firm too - and stayed on until 2 weeks ago (transition time ☀️🏄⛳️🏞👊)
Still getting fired at
And then what?
Well... 5 years and counting here. Did a bit of jumping around (originally from an European office, then moved to Africa for a year and a half, now @ US for over a year). I believe the trick is to get your priorities straight - both for yourself as well as for your teams. The Firm tends to accommodate them.
@BCG3 - Maybe your reality is different than mine. We work crazy hours at an intense pace, are sleep deprived , and no pampering (curious how you get pampered?) Why would anyone want to live like this?
Aiming for 3-4years at least. Lifestyle has been very manageable. For me the key driver is dependent on how difficult the travel is to/from client. Sure, during the week we work pretty hard but I'm okay with it as long as my weekends are protected and they have been so far.
Who wants to drink away these sorrows on sat in DC?
All that said... I do believe we have it good!! Nowhere else would we be so challenged and "blessed" with interactions with such interesting people. Not complaining at all - here cause I freaking love it!
Can you not push back on your ED? That sounds absurd--would love to add this guy to my "do not work with" list
Dude just take PTO. Nobody tracks it. I take a week after every study even if it's not to take a trip somewhere
That makes sense.
