MBB folks, just curious. What is the percentage breakdown at your respective firms between experienced hires vs MBA/undergrad hires? Does applying online or even through a referral do anything?

In NA offices, we don't do a lot of experienced hires.

like

See, top business schools aren't increasing the size of their classes, yet MBB are growing at rapid pace. Means we need to find other pools of talent otherwise we just lower the bar which is not acceptable

like

Number of lateral / experienced hires is steadily rising. Referral goes a long way.

like

I applied online as an experienced hire, can only think of a few other experienced hires. Not uncommon, but not the norm, guessing ~10%.

Depends what role you are aiming for. If consultant, you are compared to the MBA grads in terms of experience. For associate, you should do it earlier rather than later as you'll be in mix with undergraduates on their first job.

like

Less of a crapshoot if you have a referral

like

I'd guess 10% at analyst level and can't remember last post MBA we had

like

How many years of experience would you recommend prior to applying? Also, would having gone to a state school / average undergrad GPA hurt me if I'm 4 years into working? Debating if I want to apply now to one of your firms, then apply to grad school with another 2 years of experience, or just apply to grad school 2017 R1.

Ah I see. That makes sense. I'm an SC now - will likely go the MBA route. Thanks

I'd recommend MBA, then try for MBB. If you try now, you might have to start at the same level as the undergrads. And better chances from MBA, experienced hire recruiting is a crapshoot.

BCG1, odds are stacked against me. Went to a no name undergrad state school

Depends. Growth has been pretty incredible, so we've had to did deep for lateral and ADCs. Those also help smooth onboarding.

We are starting to step up external recruiting at the consultant level, but agree, it's very uncommon at Bain

Hi All, I am currently a Data Analyst with 1 year of experience and pursuing a masters in Computer Science (expected to graduate 5/2023). I am looking to transition into an entry Data Scientist role (preferably remote or Philadelphia, PA). Can someone refer me or let me know who is hiring?

I can provide my resume if needed.

So I’ve been with FAANG for 5 years (I’m 30 y/o). I’m pretty comfortable with my situation. Got average grades at a good undergrad university, total comp ~300k. I’m debating Ivy League MBA. I don’t think it’ll benefit me at FAANG, but I’d like to start a company eventually. Worth it?

Do you think an MBA is only really worth the exit options immediately post mba?

I just hear everyone obsessed with rankings but tbh in 10 years, outside say Harvard, they will have changed. My Alma mater undergrad was a top 20 school that has fallen for example. I chose it because it was the best in my local area but who cares given i don't live in that geographic local anymore.

Other schools that I didn't even consider have risen up.

Hi! I'm a seasoned benefits nerd 🤓 with a little bit of compensation experience (less than a year, my current role has thrown me into the thick of it and I'm doing my best lol).

I also enjoy working on cross-functional projects, but I don't care for Employee Relations.

I'm open to remote, or Hybrid roles (Florida). I took a slight pay cut when I moved to this job and that is not something I wish to do again at this time. (Looking for a base of at least 95k)

Hi all, I have been offer a position in #JPMC last week but the joining date given in offer letter is of before end of my notice period. I've dropped an email to HR for clarification/correction, but they are not responding. And today I got auto-generated email that my offer is expiring today. HR hasn't shared any mobile number, only office landline, which they aren't picking. Please suggest.

For an nyc role (just above entry level, like Brand Manager at BBDO) what’s a reasonable comp range for her to tell HR she’s looking for? Feels like $90-100k? Thanks for your thoughts/examples! Fwiw she has 10 yrs experience in other fields like real estate.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with ADHD. It’s all very new to me still and my doctor keeps pushing me to go on meds. Does anyone else here struggle with ADHD? How are you able to manage it in the workplace? Did you end up going on meds for it and that helps? Or did you take a non-medicated route? I really don’t want to take drugs if I don’t have to so hearing your personal experiences would be really helpful! Thanks in advance.
