In the present environment it’s more like COVID vaccines 😩

Being serious though: a high degree of demonstrable curiosity. Ability to grapple with uncertainty. Perseverance. Willingness to go “above and beyond”. Demonstrating initiative.

Trying to get a sense of how someone responds to a client crisis can be quite helpful - we deal with them a lot.

Understanding the impact they have on others is helpful too, although hard to accurately get a read on. Individual smarts goes a long way but ultimately none of our problems are solely solvable by individuals.

Hah! It’s not the majority of the work - far from it. But it’s obviously quite a different feel from a well planned and structured project with lower time pressures.

Consultants who are able to keep their calm even when clients are ultra stressed are invaluable.

Been searching for a job since March. Have had plenty of interviews and offers. Nothing has been worth it. But I am really unhappy at my job. It’s a drag and I don’t enjoy a moment of it. It’s hurting my practice. I wish I could just quit and wait for the right job, but I can’t do that with a family to support. Anyone in the same situation? Advice?

Any advice on how to play this? I met with someone in my practice area at a firm 6 months ago. There’s now a posting for position that is perfect for me. Should I reach back out to that person and ask for a referral since we already met and the conversation went well? Or should I reach out just to ask for another coffee meeting without mentioning the opening?

Interviewing at Microsoft for a Senior Program Manager role. The recruiter said PMs at Microsoft are technical and some of the interviews will focus on technical questions/design problems. I haven’t faced any technical or design rounds earlier (in my prior industry interviews) - how should I best prepare for it? Any advice who interviewed in similar roles or are at the role at MS? Really want to nail it this time, thank you for the help!

I had a first round interview and the person interviewing suggests I may be a better fit for a role she’s looking for on her team . I didn’t know what to say because I didn’t want to seem like I was jumping ship/ being messy but I am applying for roles at this time that are aligned under my current experience . Should I email her expressing interest in the role or wait until I’ve completed my interviews for the one I started interviewing for ?

Toronto banks: remote or not? They sometimes post jobs where it doesn’t say it’s remote, but no branch/ location/address either. Then you get an interview and they tell you it’s remote/hybrid(1-2-3days, take your pick)/on-site. So, if you work at TD, Scotia, RBC, could you let everybody know in the comments what’s the deal for each? Are you remote, on-site, hybrid of some sort?

I’d love to know what any interview questions that you ask/hear often! I haven’t interviewed for 8 years and things in my district just keep heading south so now that I’m looking I feel a little rusty, especially because education changes SO often. Hi everyone, currently at MBB in Europe and have a couple of buyside processes coming up where I will need to step aside for several hours at a time on some days to do interviews (up to 3-4h sometimes). Should I be open to my case manager/mentor about this or better keep it close to my chest and say I will be out for [insert random excuse]? I really want to be open and work collaboratively with my team, but at the same time wondering if that is a big mistake.

I have always had a not so great, maybe even poor, attention to detail. Honestly, I can’t even tell where it comes from, but I have tried to correct it and have never found enduring success. I’m much better at business development, PM, etc. but god save the queen if I ever need to write a legal memo or do a forensic audit.
