This again?
1. Depends - on how quickly you can grow at MBB vs the stock grows. 2. Career Advancements - MBB 3. WLB - FAANG, but growing quickly requires work 4. Projects - YMMY. 5. Exit opps - I think it's kinda even
Interesting take. Definitely reinforces my intuition that this isn’t an easy decision.

2 years at MBB as an analyst is a masterclass in management and life skills (as well as future door opener) that you just won’t get anywhere else. Unless you have a desire for a career in big tech, I’d choose MBB.
That’s definitely a factor that I’m considering. I’m not 100% sold on big tech being my career, so I’m not looking to pigeonhole myself there just yet.

I feel like WLB at FAANG is better if you’re ok with not moving up. Most consulting (esp MBB) is very up or out, but you can stay an IC at FAANG and be fine. If you want to work your way up the ladder, FAANG is also incredibly tough for WLB because you’re competing against some extremely smart and hardworking people (just like MBB) I’m MBB now (engineering pre MBA), but my affinity to build things over high level strat work will probably see me try to transition to FAANG sooner rather than later.
This explains a lot about FAANG. Some of my friends at FAANG complain about insane hours, but they’re also gunning for moving up the ladder.
Can confirm - hours will be insane if you're gunning for promotion. And don't forget, you'll most likely be down-leveled when you join. FAANG is great if you want to get 200-300k as an IC and enjoy life for a while.
