Bain & Company What is the likelihood of making SAC in September 2022 if I join as an AC on April 18th at Bain & Company? I am a senior consultant at EY with 3.5 years of experience in Data Analytics. Or is March 2023 more realistic? They told me 6 months for promotion but it seems like the two promotion cycles with my different start dates give me 4 or 9 months of experience, nothing in between. I’ll be joining in the private equity group which will be new for me.

Eventually yes but the expert track typically takes 2-3 years longer to make partner
So if you join at the associate level a top expert will make partner in 9 years vs 6 years for a gen

At BCG, unlike McK, sadly expert roles have no path to partner. It is a major advantage for McK TBH in recruiting and retention of these types of roles.
With that said, if you have the ability, you can make partner as a generalist who heavily specializes.
There are several MDPs elected recently in BCG Gamma.
I’m trying to understand the context and difference between expert track and generalist track.
In ACN expert track does seem to be the preference.
In MBB is generalist track one where a consultant can fill all the needs within an industry? And specialist track could be Eg “procure to pay” process accross industries?
