MBB- when’s an appropriate time to start taking PTO after you start your first job? I just graduated, start my role in July, and was hoping to take a day or two off in September to travel/see family. However, I heard a rule of thumb that you shouldn’t take vacation in the first 6 months of your new role. Any thoughts? TIA!

It’s your time off, use it whenever you want IMO. Just make sure you communicate it early and often so no one is left hanging.
I don’t think a day or two matters. Probably don’t want to take a week off during your first case
Just have an open conversation about it with staffing/ your case manager. If you get a lot of push back, then would probably not. No harm in asking though!
Take it whenever you need, just make sure you’re open about it. I started in July and took full week off in September for my sister’s wedding
Seconding BCG1 - I went on a week of planned vacation two months in, wasn't an issue at all. (FWIW - in a European office.)
I’ve heard that you shouldn’t ask for a vacation in the first three months. Six months is too long.
You can use it when you want but I would wait a bit 6-8 mts after you start. Tell your manager early. Also if you know before you start tell them then. That way they know what to expect.
I think that is fine. They are used to that sort of thing. Just let them know ASAP.
