Best way to handle this is to contribute heavily and max as soon as you can and then complete the in-service distribution once. It may be difficult to do because of cash flow implications.
If cash flow is real issue, I guess you just contribute as you can and then roll once in the year. You have to pay tax on the earnings but over long term, it won’t matter much
Based on that, and the $40 fee, and the fact that I believe you have to pay taxes on after tax earnings (not contributions) when withdrawing to Roth IRA, is there a good strategy for when/how often to apply for these in service distributions? It just seems like a lot of extra administrative headache to fill out and submit the withdrawal forms, which also require notarized spousal consent. Just wondering if I’m missing something or if anyone has any practical tips to share
