Contd... what determines whether I can fly business? What % of time do we fly business?

like

But For the most part don't expect the travel to be very sexy

like

What exactly is Y-up?

like

If the extra legroom seat is <$50 extra you can. Can also request to get low-level status from travel (won't post name publicly), so you can select seats for free. Business is for flights longer than 3.5hrs. You fly business 100% of the time your flight is longer than 3.5hrs. If economy is full, they will book business though too.

like

Do we always fly the same airline? Or do we pick between a few?

like

Regardless of the seat you get assigned you can change seats in the airline app. Business class is for flights 3.5 hours or greater, or if you get upgraded by the airline (once you have status happens a lot), or if you call travel and ask for a Y-Up (upgrade is less than $100)

like

Can you always request a Y-up? And if business is under $50-$100 more, can you get that?

like

You can fly any airline. Though some regions push delta and united. You can y-up when it's within the cost constraints above.

like

Gonna be honest -- you'll mostly fly coach on flights under 3.5hrs (90%+ of the time). You'll get a few y-ups here and there but don't count on it regularly except for a few random airline routes

like

Upgrades are basically impossible if you are traveling between most larger cities during Monday morning and Thursday afternoons unless you are global services / delta 360 whatever

like

I have status so I always choose extra legroom seats but that's because my status gets me them for free.

like

Obviously have a different travel policy but do you guys really struggle to get y ups? I y up every flight, unless the premium cabin is already full, and have never had an issue.

like

Who even are you?^

like

@mck1, do you fly extended legroom or aisle in coach?

Bcg1-- it's route dependent. Some routes are easy, some impossible. For me, I tend to seem to be on the latter routes more often..

It's like a pull up but Y

I am in cloud engineering. My current salary is 140k and this is my milestone year to become manager. I have been getting offers from non FAANG companies but capped at 150- 165k. All roles are typically through service companies and of cloud engineer profile. My dilemma is that I don’t know if I should exit to lesser known firms since brand is of some importance to me. 1. Are the salaries being quoted normal for cloud ? 2. Is it worth leaving at this point of my career or should I make the move

Have been pinged for a possible role as Director of Operations at a promising looking startup with a 50%% pay increase & equity. It looks like an amazing opportunity.. but my husband and I have just started trying for our first kid, and I'm not sure about leaving the stability and benefits of Big 4, even though I feel like I have run out of career growth here. Has anyone changed jobs at a similar point, or worked at a startup as a new mom, that might be able to share perspective or opinions?
