Bain & Company What is the likelihood of making SAC in September 2022 if I join as an AC on April 18th at Bain & Company? I am a senior consultant at EY with 3.5 years of experience in Data Analytics. Or is March 2023 more realistic? They told me 6 months for promotion but it seems like the two promotion cycles with my different start dates give me 4 or 9 months of experience, nothing in between. Iāll be joining in the private equity group which will be new for me.
McKinsey & Company Bain & Company How is MBB's Human Capital Consulting practice? I also have an offer as FAANG Product Manager in the same city with similar compensation. I have 7YOE in risk management at an industry specific (tech) boutique investment bank.

You gotta read the handbook: the Prince by Machiavelli.
Serious response: I would learn a bit about story telling via ppt, effective stakeholder management, mindfulness/self-awareness, and tableau.
Why?
1) Story telling via ppt is a very core skill that takes years to build at the Firm and most experienced hires struggle with this piece the most - the pyramid principle is a good book for this but you can also find McK decks that have leaked online to help you think through how we like to present to clients
2) stakeholder management is obviously a key part of the job so being able to read into peopleās motivations, emotions, reactions is really going to help you be successful; itāll also help you lead better interviews or meetings
3) this is a super stressful job and people lose track of themselves and burn out; often they arenāt aware of the way theyāre coming across either - mindfulness helps you pull yourself out of your emotions and helps you take control, and this is incredibly beneficial in stressful meetings / engagements as you can focus on the solution rather than what youāre feeling
4) tableau is great for data visualization and itās something we use semi-frequently at the Firm; as an EM I would always love to have an associate who has some decent tableau skills because itāll often make analyses faster / easier than if they were limited to excel - there are probably better tools out there but thatās my mindset at least
I wouldnāt stress out too much, however. Your first 6 months are super low expectations - no one expects you to really add a lot to the team. They just want you to learn and get the groove. The daily / weekly feedback youāll get from your teams will be way, way more useful than what some Internet stranger like me has to say.
One last thing to consider is that youāll be working really hard once you join - so why not take some time now to relax and enjoy the stage of life youāre currently in? Everyone is a go-getter, but itās also great to stop to take in the moment and bask in the achievements you have to date.
Just a few thoughts - happy to answer any other questions you have.
Why Tableau and not PowerBI?
Also, have you ever tried Alteryx. Amazing tool!
