Iām always amazed that people think we work in a linear and ideal world. Being on both sides is quite common at firms this big. Not saying itās right, but itās the reality.

Well, the way McKinsey has spoken about Russiaā¦.
Why read the article and deal in facts when you can just pile on big bad McKinsey?
The āif you work at McK youāre partly responsibleā is my favorite post. 10/10 š

As much as I think McK has a governance issue, I'm surprised anyone is surprised about this. What'd you all expect the russian consultants in the Moskau office be working on? NGOs and startups?
Serious question - do Russian partners run the consulting gauntlet first or do firms just hire the most connected people?
I realize connections also matter a great deal elsewhere, but seems to me with Russiaās economy being so heavily state owned it might be a bit different.

Man, yāall really love letting McK live rent-free in your minds huh. Itās a global company and looks like the article even says thereās no evidence a conflict of interest was present, and that other companies work with Russian entities as wellā¦ But apparently what sets McK apart is that people love hating on them
All McK defenders on the thread, I agree it is ludicrous to expect McKās russian entity to not work with russian state owned firms, anf the article also has it buried deep that other pro serv firms do this too. That said, given the # of governqnce misses McKinsey has had lately, people have no problem believing the headline means McK did comething wrong. Instead of focusing on the noise, McK needs to fix the governance problem at hand
Chief
You do realize itās possible for people to both be fixing the problem and addressing the noise at the same time right? Besides, Iām willing to bet a number of the āMcK defendersā here arenāt the ones with the power to actually fix governance structure or only have limited power to do so (e.g., donāt even work there, arenāt partners).
Anyways, reporters will always over-index on the most sensational things they can find, which usually means they over-index on scrutinizing the top names in any field.
My understanding is they stopped after the war broke out though?
Letās just agree McK is evil and move on.
Letās make mckinsey great again
