many times analysts are poorly set up by high level employees in these situations, “so Johnny can you introduce yourself”… Johnny is mostly just there to take notes and obviously in most cases not a SME in the area so why even intro him, just say “Johnny is here to document meeting minutes or actions”
I mean we’ve been forced into WFH, no analyst has ever met anyone on the team or client side in person, yeah they’re prolly gonna mess up, but you learn from that
Most MDs suck at introducing themselves. Clients don’t care about leading X or having 20 years experience. Their eyes tend to gloss over. And when clients introduce themselves, they usually just say their name and what group or team they are a part of. As an MD, I tell everyone to say your name and what your value is. I’m usually there to bring experiences from when I’ve helped multiple clients in the industry looking to do similar things. An analyst is there to do test and validate hypotheses through market research and analytics, for example. Or you could say why your excited to be on the call (I’ve always been loyal to your competitor and have firsthand experience as a discerning customer in this product class so I’m excited to bring a fresh perspective the CX design). Just be authentic. No BS stretching your experience. Honestly, most in the room can tell you’re young and aren’t expecting you to wow them with your intro. So be memorable by being interesting or articulate.
“I have 20+ years of experience living”
MD: “I’ve been leading our Consumer Products practice for 10 years”
Analyst: “I’ve been Consuming Products for 20+ years”

Analyst: “Hi I joined the firm a few months ago. Really excited to be here!”
*Client sends me an urgent invite: “Staffing review”*
True story I said exactly that during an introductory call that I thought was for our internal team. Imagine my surprise Pikachu face when I checked the invite list
What I say: I have extensive experience in x area
What I mean: I took a couple classes on x in college and got Bs in them

Lol I work in Higher Ed and I've heard new-hire analysts say they have 4 years of experience in the industry. I'm always like 😮💨
"Lots of people take 7 years to graduate."
"Yeah, they're called 'doctors.'"
One time as a new consultant someone else introduced me to the client and referred to me as a "skilled team member"😂😂
It’s such a dumb set-up when Partners do this in meetings.
Yeah they should also say “I am also Jeff just with a belly and balding head”.
Not going to doxx myself, but partners at my firm told me to stretch my experience as much as I can. 3 months in I already had 15 months experience and my partner smiled at me and we never brought it up. 💁♂️
Back in my Big 4 days we were told to answer the experience question with "just under a year" regardless of whether we were just hired from university last week or it had been 11 months.
I am Jeff , and I am the analytics guy on the team

I used to make something up about loving the client product. “Hi I’m Johnny and i actually use [insert client product here]. Huge fan! Excited to be here”
Let’s hope Johnny isn’t working for a makeup brand
Not my analysts. Create an environment where they feel safe to quickly promote their value and you will be more successful.
