As an introvert, I haven’t really been hurting for the in-person dog and pony show that is the typical consulting project experience. But now I’m realizing that my extroverted colleagues (who are obviously not getting the stimulation they need) are compensating by spending as much time as humanly possible in worthless team meetings where everyone just rambles on and on...

I’m a new associate on a transformation project and am on multiple hours of calls each day. Most of the time have no idea what’s going on and often space out or go on phone. I know that’s bad but just am drained from all the new lingo. Also I’m supposed to take notes but they’re bad notes bc I’m confused most of the time. Any advice on how to be more engaged and/or take better notes?

For the Ms and SMs, How involved are you in the teams daily activities and review of client deliveries? My SM is very in the weeds. Wants daily status emails, wants to review everything, be on all client meetings, join team status calls and I think it’s excessive and borders being a micro mgr. They also think that I should be sending all client emails instead of the team lead under me. I don’t understand this thinking as when I was a team lead, I did all of that with minimal mgr oversight.

Hi all, Need your advice. One of our worker’s wife is fighting cancer. We know that he needs to take care of her and work the same time to cover medical bills. So we decided to collect money for him. Should I do it secretly and only let him know after I’m done collecting money or should I get his permission first? I need to figure out which way would be less uncomfortable for him. Thanks!
