Not sure why you would need both PE and PMP because they are not needed for one another. PE is mainly for someone that’s trying to pursue the MEP route most of the time. PMP is for project management. Are you trying to get into PM because it seems like you are. The only time I can think of having both PE and PMP is when you’re working as an engineer with PE for a bit then get into PM after with a PMP. I would just recommend work as a Technical PM since a PM with technical background is valuable. That totally depends what you wanna pursue, the more technical side or more management side.
Many heavy industries (construction, EPC) prefer engineering staff to have PE and PMP as they review and stamp drawings as well as execute. I would say go the PMP path first, quicker turnaround and more likely to get through. Any company that “requires” a PE for stamping will already have one on staff.
