McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company been working here one year and received pretty positive feedback. Given the expectation for people of my tenure to transition to EM in a year or so, I can’t see myself staying due to the WLB as an EM. I’m 35 and have 2 young kids. Can it even be realistically done? Would love to stay but I don’t see a balance which would keep my family happy. What options do I have from there?
I'm so jaded 😬

What does “single” have to do with anything? Do attached consultants get different illnesses? 🧐😂
Typically mental illness. I am in my second year and took an LOA earlier this year.
I would imagine “single” means not likely taking parental leave.
I have seen team members leave for stress or alcohol dependency issues with that similar time frame. That said stop right now if you’re trying to preplan responses. Talk to HR, either you’re part of their reintroduction plan or you’re not. If you are the firm should prep you, if you’re not (and the employee hasn’t reached out) you’re job is to help them return, not look behind them
The bad aids
In my time I have had team members go out for... Achilles repair, knee surgery, hip replacement, miscarriage and associated complications, and thyroid surgery.
Entitlement.

Not all disabilities are visible. Cancer, Auto immune diseases etc. has nothing to do with age or relationship status.
Several? Wow you sound like you’re running a garbage project
Tumor. Thank goodness it wasn’t cancer, but of course there was no way to confirm until after surgery, and still needed recovery time after surgery. I was otherwise healthy, physically active, and in my late twenties at the time
Allergic to work
Addiction, death in family, suicidal thoughts, cancer, back surgery
I had to take leave due to MRSA ... not fun
I’m working remotely due to an Achilles repair right now. Luckily the client approved remote, or else I likely would have had to take PTO.
Huron1 - that’s rather ignorant of you to say. Yes there aren’t some who may be takin advantage of the system but you’d be surprised by how many what may seem like young healthy bucks can have health issues hit them out of nowhere. How do I know this? I’m one of them. I’m young and in great shape but I happened to get prostate cancer a few months ago
Liver recovery
Circumcision
Honestly mental health issues . In another case the person had a child with his gf and took parental leave.
